UK-based maritime technology company WaiV Robotics has launched operations in the United States after securing $7.5 million in seed funding.
The funding round included participation from venture capital firms focused on maritime technology and energy infrastructure. The company plans to use the investment to expand across North America, increase production capacity, and accelerate deployments for offshore energy operators.
Expansion Plans Focus On Offshore Infrastructure
WaiV Robotics develops autonomous drone launch and recovery systems designed for offshore environments. The company said the latest funding will support its efforts to strengthen operations in the US market, particularly across offshore wind and oil infrastructure projects.
In addition, the company aims to scale manufacturing of its automated recovery systems. It also plans to increase deployment tracks for infrastructure inspection and monitoring activities.
Platform Designed For Harsh Maritime Conditions
Founded and led by CEO Johnny Carni, WaiV Robotics builds drone infrastructure technology for remote maritime operations. Its platform combines AI-based predictive flight control software with a gyro-stabilized landing surface.
The system is designed to secure unmanned aerial vehicles in rough sea conditions. According to the company, the platform can absorb, capture, and lock drones onto moving surfaces during offshore operations.
Supports Multiple UAV Configurations
The company said its platform supports multirotor, fixed-wing, and helicopter vertical takeoff aircraft without requiring modifications to the drones.
WaiV Robotics has positioned the technology for offshore inspections and operational monitoring. These deployments are intended to help remote energy operators automate infrastructure assessments in challenging marine environments.
