San Francisco-based AI sales startup Nooks has secured a $500 million growth capital commitment from General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund (CVF) to accelerate its expansion, strengthen sales and marketing operations, and bring new AI products to market.

Announced on November 4, 2026, the financing uses a different structure from a conventional venture capital round. Rather than acquiring a traditional equity stake, General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund will receive a share of the returns generated by the capital it provides. Nooks CEO Dan Lee did not disclose the specific financial terms of the arrangement.

The funding comes alongside the formal launch of Nooks' Revenue Agent Platform, which aims to automate activities across the sales lifecycle, from finding potential customers to closing deals and managing renewals.

Founded by three Stanford entrepreneurs

Nooks was founded in late 2020 by Dan Lee, Rohan Suri and Nikhil Cheerla, who initially built a virtual office platform for remote teams.

The founders noticed that sales teams were among the most active users of their product. This led them to pivot towards building an AI-powered sales platform focused on automating repetitive sales activities and improving productivity.

Dan Lee serves as CEO, Rohan Suri as Chief Product Officer and Nikhil Cheerla as Chief Technology Officer.

Before founding Nooks, Lee worked in machine learning roles at Scale AI and Cerebras Systems. Suri previously worked with the Stanford AI Lab and Cerebras, while Cheerla has an engineering background that includes work on Tesla's Autopilot technology.

A different financing model for AI growth

The $500 million commitment comes through General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund, which uses a financing model tied to the returns generated by its capital rather than a conventional equity investment.

According to CEO Dan Lee, the structure gives Nooks the resources to pursue aggressive growth while launching additional products.

The company plans to direct the capital towards sales and marketing expansion, enterprise growth, international expansion and hiring. In its funding announcement, Nooks also said it has more than 100 open roles.

The arrangement reflects an alternative approach to financing companies with established revenue performance and predictable unit economics, allowing them to access substantial growth capital without relying solely on traditional equity fundraising.

Launching the Revenue Agent Platform

Alongside the funding announcement, Nooks formally launched its Revenue Agent Platform, designed to bring human sales representatives and AI agents together across the entire revenue lifecycle.

The platform is intended to support activities ranging from initial prospecting and customer outreach to deal progression and account renewals.

The company is positioning AI agents as more than individual automation tools. Its broader objective is to give agents responsibility for ongoing sales outcomes while allowing human representatives to focus on customer relationships, strategic decisions and negotiations.

The company also introduced Node, an AI personal assistant for sales professionals. According to Nooks, Node works in the background across sales opportunities, learns a team's sales processes and helps representatives manage follow-ups and deal-related tasks.

The platform is designed to reduce administrative work while helping sales teams maintain visibility across their customer pipelines.

More than 2,000 customers and 135% net revenue retention

Nooks reported that it has more than 2,000 customers, including companies such as Cursor, Notion, Replit, Glean and HubSpot.

The company also reported a net revenue retention rate of 135%, indicating that revenue from its existing customer base has expanded over time.

Nooks said its annual recurring revenue is on track to nearly triple by the end of 2026, although it did not disclose its current ARR figure.

These operating metrics were central to General Catalyst's decision to support the company's expansion. Pranav Singhvi, partner and co-head of the Customer Value Fund, said Nooks had demonstrated a predictable revenue engine and strong unit economics.

Betting on AI to transform sales

Nooks believes sales will be one of the next major professions reshaped by artificial intelligence, following developments in software engineering, legal services and customer support.

The company is targeting repetitive activities that consume sales representatives' time, including prospect research, outreach, follow-ups and pipeline management.

With the new capital, Nooks plans to expand its product portfolio, reach more enterprise customers and grow internationally.

The $500 million commitment gives the company significant financial capacity to pursue that strategy as it works to establish AI agents as a central part of modern sales teams.
