Opply, a London-based startup building AI-powered procurement software for consumer packaged goods (CPG) businesses, has raised $7.5 million in new funding led by Chalfen Ventures, with participation from Index Ventures and other existing investors. The company aims to expand its AI agent platform, Brain, which automates purchasing, supplier management, compliance checks and payments for consumer brands.
The funding comes as Opply reports strong growth in its business. According to the company, gross revenue increased 15-fold over the past year, while its US operations grew 30-fold since launching in Chicago in 2025.
Founded in 2021, Opply is positioning its technology as an operational system for consumer brands that want to simplify procurement, improve cash flow and reduce the administrative burden of managing suppliers.
Opply's $7.5M Funding Round
Chalfen Ventures led the $7.5 million funding round, joined by Index Ventures, Anthemis, Entrepreneurs First, In This Together and Ventures Together.
Several investors had previously backed Opply's $4 million seed round in June 2022, including Chalfen Ventures, Anthemis and Entrepreneurs First. The latest investment provides additional capital for the company to expand its AI-powered procurement offering and reach more consumer goods businesses.
Opply's founder and CEO, Helen Murphy, previously managed Procter & Gamble's largest e-commerce account and launched a pet and baby food business. Her experience in consumer goods helped shape the company's focus on the operational challenges faced by brands sourcing products, coordinating suppliers and managing purchasing.
Co-founder Martin Postel, who trained at ETH Zurich, serves as the company's chief technology officer.
The company initially launched as a marketplace connecting smaller food and beverage brands with suppliers. When it announced its seed funding, Opply said its customers saved an average of two months in sourcing time and 20% in costs.
It has since evolved into a more comprehensive AI-driven procurement platform.
Brain: AI Agents That Manage Procurement Operations
Opply's core product, Brain, is designed to manage purchasing and supply-chain operations for consumer packaged goods companies through a network of AI agents.
Rather than simply recommending suppliers or generating procurement reports, the system can take operational actions on behalf of its customers.
According to Opply, Brain's capabilities include:
Supplier sourcing: Identifying suppliers that meet a brand's purchasing requirements.
Purchase order management: Placing and monitoring orders throughout the procurement process.
Compliance verification: Checking supplier documentation and compliance requirements.
Supplier payments: Coordinating payments to suppliers on behalf of brands.
Supply-chain operations: Managing interconnected procurement tasks through a unified system.
The platform also incorporates a financing component. Opply pays suppliers on behalf of participating brands, which must repay the company within 90 days.
However, the automation does not mean that the software has unrestricted authority over company spending. According to Opply's website, Brain requests approval before spending a customer's money.
This distinction is important for businesses adopting agentic AI. The technology is intended to execute operational work independently within defined boundaries while retaining approval controls around financial decisions.
Murphy said the company wants to remove operational complexity from consumer goods supply chains, allowing brands to concentrate on growth, product innovation and reaching more customers.
Revenue Grows 15-Fold as US Operations Expand
Opply reports that its gross revenue increased 15-fold over a 12-month period. Its US operations have grown 30-fold since the company began operating in Chicago in 2025.
The company has also highlighted customer outcomes involving procurement savings and returns on investment.
According to Opply, London-based drinks brand Agua de Madre achieved a 40% reduction in costs. US kombucha brand RMBR reportedly achieved a 12-fold return on investment within a year.
Opply also provides customers with longer payment terms and higher credit limits. These arrangements can improve working capital by giving brands additional time to repay purchasing costs rather than requiring immediate payment to suppliers.
The financing component adds another dimension to the company's business model. Its value proposition combines procurement automation with payment coordination and access to credit, rather than relying exclusively on software subscriptions or AI-generated recommendations.
Nevertheless, the company has not disclosed its absolute gross revenue figures in the announcement. Its reported growth multiples indicate momentum but do not, on their own, establish its current revenue scale or profitability.
Mike Chalfen, founder of Chalfen Ventures and an early Opply investor, said the company combines AI systems capable of managing customer operations end to end with strong growth and a significant market opportunity. He also pointed to expansion across the UK and US as evidence of demand for technology that changes how consumer goods businesses operate.
Opply Enters a Competitive AI Procurement Market
Opply is operating in a growing market of startups applying AI agents to procurement and supply-chain management. Its competitors include Freehand, Didero and Magentic, which are also developing AI-powered systems to automate purchasing and related business processes.
Freehand raised $75 million on July 29, 2026, with Battery Ventures and NewRoad Capital Partners leading the round. The company says its agents manage supply-chain spending for businesses including Meta and Unilever.
Didero raised $30 million in a Series A round in February 2026, while Magentic secured an $18 million Series A on September 17, 2026.
These funding rounds give the competing companies substantial resources to develop their products and expand their customer bases. Opply's $7.5 million raise is smaller, making its focus on consumer packaged goods a potentially important point of differentiation.
Instead of serving procurement needs across multiple industries, Opply concentrates on the specific requirements of food, beverage and other consumer goods brands. This industry-focused approach allows the company to tailor its software to supplier sourcing, purchasing workflows and the cash-flow challenges common to its target customers.
The challenge will be translating this specialisation into a durable competitive advantage as larger companies expand their own AI procurement offerings.
Why AI Procurement Matters for Consumer Brands
Procurement can involve a wide range of repetitive tasks, including finding suppliers, comparing purchasing options, managing orders, verifying documents and coordinating payments. For smaller consumer brands, these activities can consume time and resources that could otherwise be spent on product development, marketing and distribution.
AI agents could help reduce this burden by carrying out connected tasks rather than merely assisting employees with individual steps.
A McKinsey survey of 41 senior commercial leaders in the United States and Europe, referenced in the source article, examines how consumer packaged goods companies are approaching agentic AI. The article notes that many businesses currently use the technology to reduce costs and accelerate existing tasks, while McKinsey sees potential for AI agents to contribute to business growth.
For Opply, the opportunity is to connect procurement automation with measurable commercial outcomes, including lower purchasing costs, improved working capital and more efficient operations.
However, adoption by larger manufacturers could require additional assurances. Enterprise customers may expect detailed audit trails, transparent financial arrangements, strong controls over purchasing decisions and clear evidence that the platform can operate reliably at scale.
These requirements become especially important when software can initiate purchases or coordinate payments rather than simply provide advice.
Opply's Next Phase of Growth
The new $7.5 million funding round gives Opply an opportunity to expand its platform and bring its procurement model to more businesses, from emerging consumer brands to larger global companies.
Its reported revenue growth and expansion in the US suggest that demand is increasing, while its combination of AI agents and procurement financing offers a broader service than conventional purchasing software.
The next challenge will be demonstrating that this model can scale without compromising financial controls, transparency or customer trust. Opply must also compete with better-funded companies while proving that its consumer goods focus provides meaningful advantages.
As businesses explore more autonomous AI systems, Opply's progress will offer an example of how agentic AI can move beyond information and recommendations into everyday commercial operations.
