Genius AI Becomes Wellness Tech Unicorn with $44 Million Series D
U.S.-based Genius AI, formerly known as GlossGenius, has raised $44 million in a Series D funding round, achieving a $1.15 billion valuation.
The round was led by Lux Capital, with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, Imaginary Ventures, L Catterton Growth, 2048 Ventures, StepStone Private Ventures, and existing investors. The latest investment brings the company's total funding to more than $125 million.
Founded in 2016 by twin sisters Danielle Cohen-Shohet and Leah Cohen-Shohet, Genius AI is expanding beyond beauty and wellness into a broader AI platform serving in-person service businesses.
Helping Service Businesses Automate Operations
Genius AI provides software for appointment booking, payments, marketing, staffing, and client management for service-based businesses.
The company says its platform now serves more than 125,000 businesses across half of all U.S. ZIP codes, has saved customers 112 million hours of administrative work, and helped generate over $2 billion in additional revenue.
Following its rebrand, the company plans to introduce AI agents capable of autonomously managing multi-step business operations for salons, wellness providers, and other in-person service businesses.
Scaling AI for the Service Economy
The new funding will support product development and expand Genius AI's AI-powered platform beyond its traditional beauty and wellness customer base.
The company says it is approaching a $200 million annual revenue run rate, reflecting continued growth in the service business software market.
