Circular Materials Raises $13.5 Million in SAFE Financing

Italy-based clean technology company Circular Materials has secured $13.5 million in SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity) financing to accelerate the commercialization of its industrial wastewater treatment and critical raw material recovery technology.

The financing was backed by CDP Venture Capital, the European Innovation Council Fund (EIC Fund), EIT RawMaterials, 360 Capital, Corbites, and Lumar.

Founded in 2019 by Marco Bersani, the company develops electrochemical systems that recover valuable metals from industrial wastewater while enabling zero-liquid-discharge operations.

Recovering Critical Raw Materials from Industrial Wastewater

Circular Materials has developed a proprietary chemical technology platform capable of extracting copper, nickel, zinc, precious metals, and other critical raw materials directly from industrial wastewater streams.

The company's solution is designed to help industries reduce waste, recover valuable resources, and improve sustainability through advanced electrochemical treatment processes.

Expanding Industrial Deployment Across Europe

The newly raised capital will be used to build the company's first large-scale industrial deployment plants, accelerate research and development in metallurgical recovery technologies, and expand its engineering teams across Europe.

The investment supports Circular Materials' mission to advance sustainable resource recovery and strengthen Europe's critical materials supply chain.
