Augustus Secures $180 Million to Expand Banking Infrastructure
Fintech startup Augustus, formerly known as Ivy, has raised $180 million in a Series B funding round, reaching a $1 billion valuation.
The round was led by Tiger Global, with participation from Hummingbird and QED Investors. The company also received personal investments from the founders of Nubank, Ramp, Circle, and Deel. The latest investment brings Augustus' total funding to $210 million.
Founded in 2022 by Ferdinand Dabitz, Joshua Becker, Simon Wimmer, and Peter Lieck, Augustus is building banking infrastructure that enables financial institutions to access U.S. dollar clearing through a federally chartered bank.
Building an API-First Global Dollar Bank
Augustus provides financial institutions with API-based access to U.S. dollar accounts, virtual accounts, ACH, SWIFT, SEPA, and stablecoin payment infrastructure through its proprietary AI-powered core banking platform, Marble.
The company received conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for a national bank charter in May 2026 and is awaiting final regulatory approval.
Its platform is designed to help banks and fintech companies in Latin America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa access U.S. dollar clearing without relying on traditional correspondent banking networks.
Supporting Global Expansion
The new funding will support the company's banking infrastructure, regulatory expansion, and continued development of its AI-powered banking platform.
If final regulatory approval is granted, CEO Ferdinand Dabitz is expected to become the youngest CEO of a federally chartered U.S. bank in more than 140 years.
