AegisAI Secures $36 Million Series A
Cybersecurity startup AegisAI has raised $36 million in a Series A funding round to accelerate its AI-powered platform designed to defend organizations against AI-driven spear phishing attacks.
The round was led by Battery Ventures, with participation from existing investors Accel and Foundation Capital. The latest investment brings the company's total funding to $49 million.
Founded in 2025 by former Google security executives Cy Khormaee and Ryan Luo, AegisAI develops AI agents that detect sophisticated phishing attempts by analyzing email context and identifying subtle indicators that traditional rule-based security systems may overlook.
Using AI to Fight AI-Powered Cyber Threats
AegisAI's platform is designed to counter increasingly sophisticated phishing campaigns generated using artificial intelligence. Rather than relying on predefined rules, its AI agents evaluate emails similarly to human security analysts, helping detect malicious attachments, impersonation attempts, and AI-crafted spear phishing attacks.
According to the company, its platform is already used by customers including Mesh, LangChain, and Lokker.
Expanding Enterprise Security Capabilities
The new funding will support continued product development and expansion beyond email security into broader enterprise defense areas, including data security.
As organizations face growing AI-enabled cyber threats, AegisAI aims to provide AI-native security tools capable of adapting to evolving attack techniques.
