Veridue Raises $4M Pre-Seed Led by Episode 1 Ventures to Accelerate Energy M&A Due Diligence

London-based energy technology startup Veridue has raised $4 million in pre-seed funding led by Episode 1 Ventures to transform due diligence and mergers and acquisitions in renewable energy and data centre infrastructure.

The round also saw participation from High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), Pi Labs and energy industry experts including Cameron Hepburn and Jeremy Palmer. The company plans to use the capital to expand its AI-powered platform for renewable energy developers, independent power producers and investors.

Cutting Weeks From Energy M&A

Veridue is focused on a problem that can significantly slow infrastructure transactions: due diligence.

Renewable energy and data centre projects can require buyers, lenders and insurers to spend four to ten weeks evaluating financial, technical, commercial and operational information before making investment decisions.

Veridue says its platform can reduce this process to a matter of hours by combining large language models with a proprietary deterministic agent layer.

The system is designed around actual deal outcomes and is overseen by energy specialists, allowing it to go beyond simply querying documents in a data room.

The platform can support the M&A workflow from initial project screening through to preparing investment committee materials.

From McKinsey Dealmaking to Building AI

Veridue was founded in 2024 by Daniel Csonth and Xander van den Eelaart.

Csonth spent nearly a decade at McKinsey, advising on more than $10 billion in energy mergers and acquisitions across three continents. His experience exposed him to the lengthy assessment processes involved in renewable energy transactions.

Van den Eelaart previously worked at insurance company SCOR, where he led agentic AI projects focused on underwriting and contract review for global energy assets.

The founders combined their experience in energy transactions and applied AI to build a specialised platform for infrastructure deal teams.

Episode 1 Ventures General Partner Adrian Lloyd said the founders had developed a purpose-built solution around how energy infrastructure deals actually work rather than creating a generic AI platform.

A Growing AI Infrastructure Opportunity

The timing comes as investment in energy and digital infrastructure continues to accelerate.

Data centre capital spending by major technology companies exceeded $400 billion in 2025, according to the International Energy Agency, while thousands of gigawatts of renewable energy and data centre projects remain delayed in grid connection queues globally.

As capital flows into renewable energy and data centre infrastructure, faster project evaluation could become increasingly important for investors, developers, lenders and insurers.

Veridue is entering a growing market for AI-powered due diligence. Competitors include Eunice, TetraxAI and Build, but Veridue is taking a narrower approach by focusing specifically on renewable energy and data centre M&A.

Building an AI Deal Infrastructure Platform

The company's strategy is to manage the full M&A workflow, from identifying and screening opportunities to analysing project information and preparing investment committee memos.

The new $4 million financing represents Veridue's first publicly announced institutional round. The company will use the funding to expand its platform and team while working with renewable energy developers, independent power producers and investors.

As Europe's renewable energy, grid and data centre infrastructure buildout accelerates, Veridue is betting that AI can remove one of the biggest bottlenecks in the investment process: the time required to understand and assess complex projects.
