Dehradun-based medtech startup Sunfox Technologies has raised $7 million in a Series A funding round to expand its portable cardiac diagnostics business in India and international markets.

The round was co-led by Ashish Kacholia, Lashit Sanghvi, Alchemy Capital and 3one4 Capital.

Sunfox had previously raised Rs 15 crore in a pre-Series A round in August 2024, led by Venture Catalysts with participation from Finvolve, Universal Group, RP Singhvi Group and other investors. The company also received investments from all five Sharks during the first season of Shark Tank India.

Founded in 2016 by Rajat Jain, Arpit Jain, Saurabh Badola, Nitin Chandola and Sabit Rawat, Sunfox develops portable and AI-enabled healthcare technologies focused on improving access to diagnostics, particularly for cardiac care.

Portable ECG technology

Sunfox's flagship product line is Spandan, a portable medical-grade ECG platform designed for use across hospitals, clinics, telemedicine networks and home-based monitoring.

The platform allows ECG recordings to be taken closer to patients rather than requiring every patient to visit a conventional diagnostic facility.

Sunfox says its technology can also identify cardiac patterns that may require further medical attention.

Over the past decade, the company has developed different Spandan solutions for personal, clinical and institutional applications.

These include home-based ECG recording, hospital and clinic use, public-health programmes and remote-care networks.

Reaching patients beyond major cities

Sunfox has built its distribution and deployment footprint across India.

The company says its products have reached healthcare providers across more than 1,800 PIN codes in India and are now present in more than 15 countries.

Around 60,000 Spandan devices have reportedly been deployed across India, covering more than 20,000 villages across states and union territories.

The company's technology can also operate through a hub-and-spoke model, allowing healthcare systems to connect remote locations with larger medical centres.

Sunfox says its Spandan One platform has been used to screen approximately 5 million patients annually.

This model is particularly relevant for healthcare systems where access to specialist diagnostics can be limited outside major urban centres.

Funding will support the next phase

Sunfox plans to use the new $7 million investment to accelerate its next stage of growth.

The company will expand its presence across India, develop global go-to-market capabilities and scale its organisation.

It will also continue investing in research and development.

The international expansion could become an important part of the company's growth strategy as portable diagnostic devices gain relevance in markets where healthcare infrastructure and specialist access vary significantly between regions.

Growing cardiac diagnostics market

Sunfox operates in a market that includes both traditional medical-device companies and newer digital health startups.

AliveCor and Tricog are among the companies operating in cardiac monitoring and diagnostics.

Monitra Health has also raised capital for its remote cardiac monitoring platform, while Molbio Diagnostics has expanded portable point-of-care testing through its battery-operated Truenat platform.

Sunfox's focus is on combining portable hardware with AI-enabled diagnostic capabilities and deploying those tools across hospitals, clinics, public-health programmes and remote-care networks.

From Shark Tank to international expansion

Sunfox's journey includes a notable consumer and investor milestone.

The company received investments from all five Sharks during the first season of Shark Tank India.

Since then, it has continued building its healthcare device business and expanding its deployment footprint.

The latest Series A gives the company additional capital to move from domestic expansion toward a broader international market strategy.

For Sunfox, the challenge will be scaling distribution while continuing to develop medical technology that can operate reliably across different healthcare environments.

With 60,000 devices reportedly deployed in India and operations spanning more than 15 countries, the company now has a larger base from which to pursue that expansion.
