Sherpa.ai, a Spain-based artificial intelligence company, has raised $18 million in a funding round backed by new investor Forgepoint Capital alongside existing investors Mundi Ventures, Ekarpen, Allegra Holdings, and SETT.

The company plans to use the fresh capital to strengthen its secure enterprise AI platform. It will also expand its data sovereignty network offerings, grow its engineering team, and accelerate research in decentralized artificial intelligence.

Focus on Privacy-Preserving AI

Founded by Xabi Uribe-Etxebarria, Sherpa.ai develops an AI infrastructure platform that enables organizations to build and deploy large language models without sharing sensitive data.

Its platform uses Blind Federated Learning, a technology designed to help multiple organizations train AI models collaboratively while keeping raw datasets private. As a result, enterprises can develop AI solutions while maintaining data security and regulatory compliance.

Commercial Adoption Continues

Sherpa.ai has also secured commercial validation contracts with organizations including the U.S. National Institutes of Health, Indra, and Centogene Genomics.

The latest funding is expected to support the company's product development efforts and expand the adoption of its privacy-focused AI infrastructure across enterprise and research sectors.
