Qolab, a quantum computing hardware company based in Santa Barbara, announced the initial closings of its Series B Preferred Stock financing round.

The company said the funding round, combined with the conversion of $12.6 million in convertible securities and a commitment of $10 million in future convertible securities, brings the total financing amount to $54.2 million.

The round was led by UC Investments, the investment arm of the University of California system. Existing investors including Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, Octave Ventures, and Phoenix Venture Partners also participated in the financing.

Funding to Support Quantum Computing Development

Qolab plans to use the capital to continue developing scalable superconducting quantum computing technologies. In addition, the company aims to expand its semiconductor partnerships and advance its work toward fault-tolerant quantum computing systems.

Quantum computing companies continue to attract investment as researchers and technology firms explore systems capable of solving complex computational problems beyond the reach of traditional computers.

Focus on Superconducting Quantum Hardware

Founded by Alan Ho, Qolab develops superconducting quantum computers designed for utility-scale applications. The company combines physics research with semiconductor engineering through collaborations with research institutions and industry partners.

Qolab is also working with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory through the Quantum Systems Accelerator, a U.S. Department of Energy quantum research initiative led by Berkeley Lab.

Additionally, researchers from University of California, Santa Barbara are collaborating with the company to study next-generation quantum algorithms using Qolab’s technologies.
