Swiss recycling technology company GR3N has raised €15.5 million in a Series B funding round to support the expansion of its plastic recycling operations.

The investment round was led by 360 Capital, with additional participation from VP Textile.

Funding to Support Industrial-Scale Recycling Plant

GR3N plans to use the fresh capital to continue the development of MODUS, its industrial recycling facility in Spain. The plant is expected to process up to 40,000 tonnes of PET and polyester waste annually.

In addition, the company will invest in improving its licensed technical support framework, which is designed to assist partners deploying its recycling technology.

Company Focuses on Chemical Recycling Technology

Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Lugano, Switzerland, GR3N develops chemical recycling solutions for PET plastics and polyester-based materials.

The company is currently led by CEO Martin Stephan and Co-founder Dr. Maurizio Crippa.

At the center of its offering is MADE (Microwave-Assisted Depolymerisation), a patented technology that converts PET packaging and polyester textile waste into virgin-grade monomers. According to the company, the process can complete this conversion within approximately 10 minutes.

Technology Designed for PET Waste Recovery

GR3N's recycling process combines microwave technology with alkaline hydrolysis. The approach is intended to improve the economic viability of recycling polyethylene terephthalate (PET) at an industrial scale.

The company holds three patent families covering its depolymerization process and related equipment. As part of its commercial expansion plans, GR3N is working with engineering partner Intecsa Industrial to support the development of its Spanish facility.

The latest funding is expected to help the company move closer to large-scale deployment of its recycling technology while expanding its presence in the circular plastics sector.
