Spanish accounting technology startup Kabilio has raised €10 million in a funding round led by Picus Capital and Visionaries, with participation from Spain's public innovation agency, CDTI.

The Barcelona-based company develops AI-powered accounting software for accounting firms and the small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) they serve. The fresh capital will support the development of its upcoming AI accounting agent and Kabilio Empresas, a new platform designed to connect businesses directly with their accountants.

The funding comes as Kabilio expands its customer base and prepares to introduce AI agents capable of handling more complex accounting workflows.

Founded by repeat entrepreneurs

Kabilio was founded in 2024 by Jose Ojeda and Alex Valls, who previously started three companies together.

Ojeda grew up around the accounting industry through his father, who operated a tax and accounting firm. He also gained experience managing finance teams internationally before returning to Spain.

After returning, he observed that many small businesses still relied on traditional processes, including physically bringing paperwork to accounting offices for bookkeeping and tax preparation.

The founders began speaking with accounting firms to understand their operational challenges. According to Ojeda, their conversations with 20 to 30 firms highlighted how much time accountants spent on repetitive administrative work.

He estimates that accountants spend approximately 80% of their time on data entry and administrative tasks, while recruitment difficulties and quarterly tax deadlines create additional pressure on firms.

Kabilio was launched in 2025 to address these challenges through automation.

Automating accounting workflows with AI

Kabilio initially focused on pre-accounting, helping accounting firms automate routine financial processes.

Its platform can:

  • Read and process invoices.

  • Suggest accounting entries.

  • Match bank transactions.

  • Prepare account reconciliations.

  • Identify discrepancies requiring human review.

The software is designed to integrate with tools businesses already use, allowing accounting firms to introduce automation without replacing their existing systems.

Kabilio claims its technology reduces bookkeeping and reconciliation time by approximately 60%.

Its customers include Adlanter, Solfico and Gemap.

The company has primarily grown through direct sales and customer referrals rather than relying on aggressive marketing campaigns.

Launching an AI accounting agent

A major focus of the latest funding is the development of Kabilio's AI accounting agent, which is scheduled to enter beta testing in November 2026.

The agent is designed to handle tasks that accounting firms would typically assign to a newly hired employee.

These include retrieving invoices from client emails, reconciling bank statements, checking accounting entries, following up on missing documents and communicating with clients through email and WhatsApp.

The system is intended to operate under the supervision of professional accountants rather than independently replacing their responsibilities.

According to Ojeda, the agent is not yet commercially available, and several accounting firms are currently testing it.

The company expects the technology to help firms manage routine workloads more efficiently while allowing accountants to concentrate on more complex financial and advisory work.

Growing customer base and team

Kabilio has expanded considerably since launching in 2025.

Its customer base grew from approximately 100 accounting firms in November 2025 to more than 500 by November 2026.

The company now has over 80 people, with most employees working across technology and product development.

It expects to serve more than 500 companies by the end of 2026, according to the funding report.

The latest funding will also support Kabilio Empresas, a platform designed to improve collaboration between SMBs and their accounting firms.

Competition in AI-powered accounting

Kabilio is entering a competitive market as startups develop AI-powered tools to automate accounting, tax preparation and financial operations.

Pennylane raised $200 million in January 2026, led by TCV, to expand its accounting software platform.

US-based Basis secured $100 million in Series B funding at a $1.15 billion valuation, led by Accel, to develop AI agents for accounting workflows.

Berlin-based Integral also raised €18 million in Series A funding in September 2026 to expand its AI-powered tax and accounting technology.

The broader adoption of AI agents across professional services is creating opportunities beyond accounting. Legal technology startup Athena, for example, raised $2.5 million in pre-seed funding from a16z Speedrun to develop AI-powered legal services.

Kabilio's approach focuses on working alongside existing accounting firms rather than replacing them, positioning its technology as an additional layer of automation for established financial service providers.

Funding to accelerate product development

The €10 million round was led by Picus Capital and Visionaries, both of which had previously backed Kabilio at the pre-seed stage. Spain's Centre for the Development of Technology and Innovation (CDTI) also participated.

According to Ojeda, the investors approached the company after observing its customer growth and customer satisfaction, rather than Kabilio actively seeking a new funding round.

The capital will support the AI accounting agent's beta launch and development of Kabilio Empresas.

With a growing customer base, an expanding team and increasing investment in AI-powered accounting, Kabilio is looking to establish itself as a technology partner for accounting firms across Spain and potentially other European markets.

Its next challenge will be earning accountants' trust in AI agents handling increasingly complex client workflows while maintaining the accuracy and oversight required in financial operations.
