Pharosyn, a London-based AI startup focused on pharmaceutical commercial intelligence, has raised $3 million in seed funding to help drugmakers make faster decisions around pricing, market access, portfolios and competitive strategy.
The round was led by Moonfire Ventures, with participation from Entrepreneurs First, Transpose Platform and General Advance. Pharosyn has not disclosed its valuation.
The latest investment follows a pre-seed round from the same group of investors in 2025 and comes as pharmaceutical companies increasingly explore AI beyond drug discovery and clinical development.
Pharosyn Raises $3M Seed Round
Founded in 2025, Pharosyn was established by Stephen Cowley and Joshua Hampson.
Cowley, who serves as CEO, previously studied artificial intelligence at the University of Cambridge, while Hampson studied biochemistry. Their academic backgrounds helped shape Pharosyn's focus on applying AI to pharmaceutical commercial and competitive intelligence.
The company currently has 11 employees and plans to use the new funding to hire additional engineers and pharmaceutical industry specialists.
AI for Pharmaceutical Commercial Intelligence
Pharosyn is focused on the commercial side of the pharmaceutical industry rather than drug discovery.
Pharmaceutical companies need to constantly monitor clinical developments, regulatory changes, competitor activity, market trends and other signals that can influence commercial strategy.
Pharosyn's platform continuously tracks information from clinical, regulatory and commercial sources, including clinical trial data, deals, hiring activity, epidemiology and social media.
The platform then converts this information into structured reports and alerts that pharmaceutical teams can use to inform strategic decisions.
Cutting Research Time by 94%
One of Pharosyn's key selling points is the speed at which it can generate commercial intelligence.
According to co-founder and CEO Stephen Cowley, the company has reduced the time required to produce certain reports or answer research questions from around four hours to just a few minutes.
In one case study involving a top-10 biopharmaceutical company, a task that previously took an external vendor around two hours reportedly took approximately 15 minutes using Pharosyn.
That represents a significant reduction in the time required for senior pharmaceutical executives to access competitive intelligence.
Built Around Traceable AI
Accuracy and traceability are particularly important in pharmaceutical commercial strategy.
Pharosyn's system is designed so that outputs can be traced back to their underlying sources, allowing users to understand where the information behind an AI-generated insight originated.
The approach is partly rooted in Cowley's academic research at Cambridge on mitigating hallucinations in large language models.
The founders believe pharmaceutical companies need AI infrastructure that is specifically designed for commercial teams rather than generic AI tools that may not provide sufficient traceability or domain-specific context.
Working With Major Pharmaceutical Companies
Pharosyn says it is currently working with a biopharmaceutical company ranked among the world's top 10, alongside several mid-sized pharmaceutical companies.
Senior directors at these organisations reportedly use the platform daily for commercial and competitive intelligence.
The company initially tested its technology within a consultancy before beginning direct work with pharmaceutical teams in areas including oncology, neurology, immunology and rare diseases.
Growing AI Opportunity in Pharma
Pharmaceutical companies are under increasing pressure to make faster commercial decisions as competition intensifies and the time available to generate returns from successful drugs becomes more constrained.
AI adoption in pharma is expanding rapidly, although much of the investment has historically focused on drug discovery and clinical development.
Pharosyn is targeting a less crowded part of the market by applying AI to commercial intelligence, portfolio strategy and competitive research.
It competes indirectly with established pharmaceutical intelligence providers such as GlobalData, Evaluate Pharma and AlphaSense, while newer AI startups are also entering specific parts of the pharma research workflow.
Moonfire Leads the Round
Moonfire Ventures led Pharosyn's latest funding round, with founder Mattias Ljungman highlighting the technical expertise and ambition of the company's founding team.
The investment will allow Pharosyn to expand beyond its current 11-person team and bring in more engineers and pharmaceutical specialists.
As pharmaceutical companies look for faster ways to understand markets, competitors and emerging opportunities, Pharosyn is betting that specialised AI infrastructure can become a core part of how commercial teams make decisions.
