Fashion startup Atorie has raised $9.5 million in seed funding as it looks to make high-quality, luxury-style fashion more accessible by connecting consumers directly with manufacturers that produce goods for high-end brands.
The funding round includes investors such as a16z Speedrun, Night Capital and Lightspeed Ventures investor Jeremy Liew. Atorie plans to use the new capital to expand its logistics operations, develop additional AI tools and increase production.
Bringing Luxury Manufacturing Directly to Consumers
Atorie is building a fashion business around direct access to luxury manufacturing capabilities. Consumers can purchase handbags and clothing made using materials and craftsmanship similar to those used by high-end manufacturers, while avoiding some of the traditional retail markups associated with luxury brands.
The company says an Italian leather handbag on its platform can cost a few hundred dollars, compared with several thousand dollars for comparable products from major luxury fashion brands.
Atorie's co-founder Redouane Ramdani says the company's products should not primarily be viewed as traditional fashion dupes. Instead, the startup focuses on working with manufacturers that already have experience producing high-quality goods for luxury brands.
"It's the same material, same craftsmanship," Ramdani said, explaining that the products come from the same factories.
The company also positions itself differently from conventional fast fashion. Rather than focusing solely on producing inexpensive products at high volume, Atorie wants to combine trend-focused designs with higher-quality materials and manufacturing.
A Changing Fashion Manufacturing Industry
Ramdani's background played an important role in the creation of Atorie. Before launching the startup, he founded creator platform Snipfeed, which was acquired in 2024. He also grew up in France in a family connected to the luxury manufacturing industry.
After selling Snipfeed, Ramdani saw significant changes taking place across the fashion manufacturing ecosystem.
Traditionally, large fashion brands would provide factories with designs and materials and place substantial orders. These large minimum-order requirements could lead to overproduction, leaving manufacturers exposed when inventory failed to sell or when a major customer changed its plans.
According to Ramdani, leading factories are increasingly developing their own product and design capabilities. This allows manufacturers to create products themselves, adapt designs more quickly and produce smaller batches.
For Atorie, that shift creates an opportunity to connect manufacturers directly with consumers.
Using AI to Reduce Fashion Overproduction
Artificial intelligence is central to Atorie's manufacturing strategy.
The startup uses AI to analyze fashion trends, evaluate product concepts and determine which colors and designs could perform well in the market. AI tools also help estimate consumer demand before manufacturers commit to production.
Atorie is also developing AI agents that can predict potential material shortages, allowing factories to prepare their supply in advance.
The goal is to make fashion production more responsive to actual consumer demand. Better forecasting could help manufacturers reduce excess inventory while allowing them to diversify their customer base.
This approach comes as consumers increasingly question both the high prices of luxury goods and the environmental impact of fast fashion.
AI-Powered Shopping Experience
Atorie is also applying AI directly to the consumer shopping experience.
Its website includes an AI agent that can help shoppers create outfits based on an image, person or other source of inspiration. Over time, the platform can learn from customer behavior and use those insights to recommend products.
The company says it is already seeing more sales referrals from AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Claude, suggesting that AI-powered product discovery could become an increasingly important channel for online fashion retailers.
Ramdani expects AI agents to play an even larger role in commerce, with consumers eventually being able to instruct AI systems to identify and purchase products on their behalf.
Targeting the Gap Between Luxury and Fast Fashion
Atorie is targeting consumers who want better-quality products without paying traditional luxury prices.
The company compares its approach with Quince, a retailer known for offering premium-oriented products at relatively accessible prices. Atorie also wants to become an alternative to retailers such as Zara by combining trend-driven products with higher-quality materials and manufacturing.
The strategy comes as younger consumers increasingly explore alternatives to traditional luxury brands and fast-fashion retailers.
Rather than competing purely on low prices, Atorie is betting that shoppers will value the combination of quality, affordability, manufacturing transparency and personalization.
Strong Growth and Global Factory Network
Atorie is already showing significant commercial momentum.
The company ended the previous year with approximately $5 million in sales and expects to reach an annualized run rate of more than $55 million this year.
The startup currently works with more than 40 factories worldwide, giving it access to a broad manufacturing network as it expands its product offering.
The new funding will help Atorie strengthen its logistics infrastructure, expand production and develop additional AI capabilities.
Expanding Into Private Labels and Creator Brands
Atorie also has plans to launch its own in-house fashion line, similar to the private-label model used by major retailers.
The company plans to work with creators and influencers as well, helping them launch clothing lines more quickly by leveraging Atorie's manufacturing network and technology.
With its combination of AI-powered demand forecasting, direct access to luxury manufacturing and personalized shopping tools, Atorie is positioning itself at the intersection of fashion, artificial intelligence and e-commerce.
The startup's broader ambition is to make high-quality fashion more affordable while creating a more flexible manufacturing model that can respond to changing consumer demand.
