Tel Aviv-based AI language-learning company Loora has raised $22 million in Series B funding to expand its AI-powered English-learning platform globally.
The round was led by Union Tech Ventures, with participation from Hearst Ventures, vgames, Emerge and QP Ventures. The latest financing brings Loora's total funding to $43.25 million.
An AI Tutor Built Around Conversation
Loora provides an AI English tutor that adapts lessons to individual learners based on their conversation history, current level and personal goals.
Rather than following a fixed curriculum, users can practise English through conversations about subjects they are interested in, ranging from everyday topics to politics and philosophy.
The service costs approximately $10 per month, positioning AI-powered conversational tutoring as a lower-cost alternative to traditional one-on-one English instruction.
15 Million Users and 200 Million Conversations
Loora says its platform has attracted more than 15 million users worldwide and facilitated over 200 million AI conversations.
The company uses this large volume of conversational data to continually refine its teaching experience and personalise interactions.
Japan is already among Loora's top 10 markets by user count, highlighting the company's international reach beyond its Israeli home market.
Targeting Working Professionals
Loora is particularly focused on adults who want to improve their English for professional and educational opportunities.
According to the company, around 72% of its users are working adults between the ages of 25 and 55 who are learning English to advance their careers.
Loora points to the global scale of the opportunity, noting that English is not the first language for the vast majority of the world's population and that English proficiency is widely assessed by employers across advanced economies.
Expanding AI Research and Global Reach
Loora plans to use the new funding to accelerate artificial intelligence research and development while expanding across the United States, Europe, Asia and South America.
The company is positioning personalised AI tutoring as a way to make high-quality English practice more accessible to learners who may not be able to afford regular one-on-one tutoring.
Competing in AI-Powered Language Learning
The funding comes as AI increasingly becomes part of language education, with startups and established education companies developing tools for pronunciation, conversation, vocabulary and personalised instruction.
Loora's approach focuses heavily on conversational practice, personalisation and tracking learner progress rather than simply providing chatbot-style interactions.
With $43.25 million in total funding, more than 15 million users and 200 million AI conversations, Loora is now looking to expand its platform across additional markets while continuing to develop its AI-driven teaching capabilities.
