Healthcare technology startup Docterz has raised ₹5 crore from approximately 35 investors, including doctors who already use its platform. Around 20 doctor-users contributed nearly ₹3 crore, accounting for approximately 60% of the total funding.

The investor group also includes Vineeta Singh, co-founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics, and Avnish Anand, co-founder and former CEO of CaratLane.

Founded by paediatrician Dr Atish Laddad, Docterz provides technology designed to help doctors manage their medical practices, patient records and administrative operations. The company plans to use the fresh capital to expand organically, explore acquisitions and develop AI-powered tools for healthcare professionals.

When doctors become investors in the platform they use

One of the most notable aspects of Docterz's latest funding round is the participation of its existing customers.

Approximately 20 doctors who use the platform invested nearly ₹3 crore in the company. Their contribution represents around 60% of the ₹5 crore funding round.

This participation gives the financing a different dimension from a conventional investor-led round. The doctors are not only users of the product but have also committed capital to the business.

Dr Dhananjay Sangle, a paediatrician and Docterz investor, said his decision to invest was influenced by his experience using the platform for several years and his confidence in its founder.

Another investor, Dr Suhas Warad, said technology designed around doctors' needs could help them manage their practices more efficiently and spend more time on patient care.

Vineeta Singh also highlighted customer participation as a positive signal for a business, noting that doctors investing in Docterz reflected their trust in the platform and its founder.

What Docterz offers healthcare professionals

Founded more than a decade ago, Docterz provides an integrated practice-management platform for independent doctors and healthcare organisations.

Its product combines several functions that medical practices typically need to manage:

  • Electronic medical records: Maintaining patient medical information and records.

  • Appointment management: Organising patient bookings and consultations.

  • Billing: Managing financial and administrative processes.

  • Vaccination management: Supporting vaccination-related records and workflows.

  • Patient engagement: Helping doctors maintain communication with patients.

The company says its technology supports more than 5,000 doctors across India, with a particularly strong presence in paediatrics.

By bringing multiple practice-management functions together, Docterz aims to reduce the administrative burden on healthcare professionals and provide a more organised way to manage day-to-day operations.

Developing AI tools for doctors

Docterz is also working on AI-enabled tools designed to assist doctors with routine administrative and clinical practice workflows.

The planned capabilities include documentation support, administrative workflow assistance, practice data analysis and patient follow-ups.

These tools are intended to help healthcare professionals manage repetitive tasks more efficiently while maintaining their focus on patient care.

The company has not disclosed specific AI product launch dates or detailed performance figures for these tools in the funding announcement.

Expansion plans and potential acquisitions

Docterz plans to use the ₹5 crore funding to support organic expansion, explore acquisitions and accelerate AI product development.

It also aims to increase its presence among independent practitioners, smaller clinics and healthcare organisations across India.

Its existing base of more than 5,000 doctors provides a foundation for further expansion. However, the company has not disclosed a specific target for new doctor additions or the number of clinics it intends to onboard.

Exploring acquisitions could also provide an opportunity to expand its technology capabilities or reach, although no acquisition targets have been announced.

What comes next for Docterz

Docterz is looking to strengthen its position in India's healthcare technology ecosystem by combining practice-management software with AI-powered tools.

Its next challenge will be expanding beyond its existing practitioner base while continuing to develop products that address the operational needs of doctors.

The participation of existing doctor-users in the funding round provides an interesting indication of customer confidence. Whether that translates into broader adoption, stronger retention and sustainable business growth will become clearer as the company executes its expansion plans.

With backing from healthcare professionals and experienced entrepreneurs including Vineeta Singh and Avnish Anand, Docterz has secured fresh capital to develop its platform and expand its reach across India's healthcare sector.
