Venttup, a Bengaluru-based B2B manufacturing startup, has raised $3 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by Rainmatter, the investment arm of Zerodha, and Unicorn India Ventures. The company plans to use the capital to expand its engineering team, strengthen precision manufacturing infrastructure and introduce AI into sourcing and supplier intelligence.
Incubated at Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), Venttup previously raised a seed round from Unicorn India Ventures in September 2024. Its latest funding will support its expansion across industries that require specialised components, engineering expertise and reliable manufacturing capacity.
The startup reported fivefold growth to ₹10 crore in FY26. Over the preceding 12 months, it added more than 15 large companies to its customer base and built a business opportunity pipeline worth approximately ₹30 crore across new energy, mobility and smart infrastructure.
Building a manufacturing-as-a-service platform
Founded in 2022 by Sandeep Nair, M. Wasim Ankli and Joseph Panakkal, Venttup focuses on the localisation and development of critical and precision components and subassemblies.
Its Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS) model supports customers across several stages of the manufacturing process, including engineering design, specification standardisation, rapid prototyping, testing, validation and contract manufacturing.
Rather than limiting its role to sourcing finished components, Venttup combines in-house engineering capabilities with a network of manufacturing partners, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises. This approach is intended to help businesses access specialised manufacturing capacity and move components from design to production.
The company reports capabilities spanning precision machining, casting and forging, sheet metal fabrication, box builds, special-purpose machines, industrial automation, robotics and technology-enabled B2B sourcing.
These services target sectors such as energy, data centres, mobility, defence, aerospace and space, where component requirements can involve detailed specifications, testing and validation before production.
New Bengaluru facility to strengthen production capabilities
A key part of Venttup's expansion plan is a manufacturing facility in Bengaluru. The facility is expected to strengthen the company's rapid prototyping and precision manufacturing capabilities.
Planned operations include precision machining, turning and sheet metal production for applications across energy transition, defence, aerospace and space.
The facility is intended to shorten the time between component development, validation and production readiness, helping customers progress toward mass manufacturing. The source does not disclose the facility's investment cost or a confirmed operational launch date.
By expanding its own manufacturing infrastructure while maintaining its network of MSME partners, Venttup is pursuing a model that combines engineering services with access to distributed manufacturing capacity.
Applying AI to industrial sourcing
Venttup plans to invest in AI to improve B2B sourcing, supplier intelligence and operational efficiency. In industrial procurement, finding suppliers that meet technical specifications, production requirements and delivery expectations can involve substantial coordination.
Supplier intelligence and sourcing tools could help businesses identify relevant manufacturing partners and organise procurement workflows. However, the company has not disclosed specific AI products, deployment timelines or measurable efficiency improvements from these planned investments.
The funding will also support engineering-team expansion and rapid prototyping infrastructure. Together, these investments are intended to improve the company's ability to serve customers requiring specialised components and engineering support.
Targeting four industrial growth areas
Venttup plans to expand across four business verticals:
Energy transition and data centres: Manufacturing support for components used in evolving energy and infrastructure systems.
Aerospace, defence and space systems: Precision manufacturing for technically demanding applications.
Smart infrastructure and future mobility: Component development for infrastructure and mobility-related businesses.
Electronics, automation and smart manufacturing: Manufacturing and engineering support for industrial technology applications.
The company has reported a ₹30 crore opportunity pipeline across new energy, mobility and smart infrastructure. This represents potential business rather than confirmed revenue, and the announcement does not specify how much of the pipeline has converted into orders.
What the funding means for Venttup
Venttup's latest funding comes as it seeks to scale beyond its existing engineering and manufacturing operations. Its reported fivefold growth to ₹10 crore in FY26 provides a measure of recent business expansion, while the addition of more than 15 large companies indicates progress in customer acquisition.
The next stage will depend on how effectively the startup converts its opportunity pipeline into actual business, expands production capacity and delivers consistently across its target industries.
Manufacturing infrastructure, engineering talent and supplier coordination will be central to that effort. The planned Bengaluru facility and investments in AI-enabled sourcing could help Venttup strengthen its position, although the commercial impact of these initiatives remains to be demonstrated.
With Rainmatter and Unicorn India Ventures leading the latest round, Venttup has secured additional capital to pursue its manufacturing-as-a-service strategy. Its progress will be measured by new customer wins, production readiness, revenue growth and its ability to serve complex industrial requirements at scale.
