Volta Secures $300 Million at $2.4 Billion Valuation
AI infrastructure startup Volta has raised $300 million in venture funding at a $2.4 billion valuation to help AI companies finance large-scale GPU infrastructure.
The funding round was co-led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Altimeter Capital, with participation from Nvidia and Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell.
Founded just seven months ago, the company has now raised $300 million in total funding.
Building a Financing Platform for AI Compute
Founded in 2026 by former Brookfield Asset Management executives Ricard Boada (Co-founder & CEO) and Sofia Gumuzio (Co-founder & Chief Corporate Development Officer), Volta aims to solve one of AI's biggest challenges: the massive upfront cost of compute infrastructure.
Instead of simply providing cloud GPUs, Volta combines infrastructure financing with cloud computing services, enabling AI companies to access expensive GPU clusters without bearing the full capital cost.
Major Infrastructure Commitments
Alongside the equity funding, Volta announced:
$5 billion in customer financing for AI infrastructure
A $10 billion, six-year cloud computing agreement with an unnamed AI developer
Delivery of cloud capacity through a 133 MW data center in Norway in partnership with Bitdeer Technologies
The company has also secured 1 gigawatt of power capacity and plans to expand with new infrastructure projects in Texas and Wyoming, targeting multiple gigawatts by 2030.
Expanding Through Strategic Acquisitions
To strengthen its cloud platform, Volta acquired the team behind Genesis Cloud, a European GPU cloud provider established in 2018.
The acquisition combines Volta's infrastructure financing capabilities with cloud software designed to provision and manage AI compute resources.
Meeting Growing Demand for AI Infrastructure
As demand for AI computing continues to rise, infrastructure costs have become a major barrier for many AI companies.
Volta's model positions financing as a core product, helping startups and enterprises gain access to high-performance GPU infrastructure while reducing the capital burden traditionally associated with building AI data centers.
