Proxy Foods AI Secures $6 Million Seed Funding

Washington, D.C.-based Proxy Foods AI has raised $6 million in Seed funding to expand its AI-powered food and beverage research and development platform.

The round was led by Ted Leonsis, with participation from Robert G. Hisaoka and SWaN & Legend Venture Partners (Anthony Nader and Fredrick Schaufeld).

AI for Food & Beverage Innovation

Led by CEO Panos Kostopoulos, Proxy Foods AI develops an enterprise AI platform that helps food and beverage companies accelerate product development—from concept and formulation to commercialization.

The platform is designed for:

  • Consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies

  • Foodservice businesses

  • Ingredient manufacturers

By leveraging AI, organizations can streamline formulation workflows, reduce development time, and improve collaboration across R&D teams.

Enterprise-Grade Security for R&D

Proxy Foods AI recently partnered with Aperio Global to strengthen the platform's security.

The partnership introduces a Zero Trust, quantum-resilient security layer that enables computation on encrypted data without exposing proprietary product formulations, helping enterprises protect sensitive intellectual property throughout the R&D process.

Funding to Support Growth

The company will use the new funding to:

  • Expand business operations

  • Accelerate platform development

  • Enhance AI capabilities for food and beverage R&D

Proxy Foods AI operates laboratories and offices in San Francisco and Greece, supporting customers developing next-generation food and beverage products.
