Polar Secures $5.7 Million in Seed Funding

Polar, an AI startup building a browser designed to automate knowledge work, has raised $5.7 million in Seed funding.

The round was led by Madrona, with participation from angel investors including Thomas Dohmke, former GitHub CEO, and Erik Bernhardsson, founder of Modal.

Founded by Kevin Jiang, Vishaal Ram, and Howard Zhong, Polar is developing an AI-native browser capable of completing complex browser-based workflows with minimal human involvement.

Building an AI Browser for Autonomous Work

Unlike traditional AI browsers focused on search, summarization, or writing assistance, Polar's browser is designed to execute complete workflows across websites.

The browser interacts with websites much like a human user by clicking buttons, filling out forms, scrolling pages, logging into accounts, conducting research, updating CRM systems, and completing repetitive online tasks.

Instead of relying on APIs or custom integrations, Polar works directly within existing web interfaces, allowing users to delegate multi-step tasks that can run for minutes or even hours. According to the company, its browser has successfully completed workflows lasting more than 15 hours.

The startup also says customers have executed over 4.5 million actions through the platform during its first seven months across research, recruiting, sales, marketing, operations, and other knowledge-intensive functions.

Supporting the Next Generation of AI Agents

The newly raised funding will support the continued development of Polar's AI browser as competition grows in autonomous AI agents.

The company aims to transform the browser from a tool where work is performed into an autonomous workspace capable of independently completing repetitive digital tasks.
