Pinegap Secures $8 Million Series A to Expand AI Equity Research Platform

AI-powered equity research startup Pinegap has raised $8 million in a Series A funding round led by Stellaris Venture Partners.

Existing investors Inventus, Silicon Valley Quad, and DeVC also participated in the round.

AI Agents for Institutional Investment Research

Founded in 2024 by Ankit Varmani and Deepak Sharma, Pinegap is headquartered in New York, with its technology center in Bengaluru.

The company builds AI agents that automate the daily workflows of institutional investment analysts across:

  • Hedge funds

  • Long-only mutual funds

  • Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs)

Rather than functioning as a chatbot or search tool, Pinegap develops custom AI agents tailored to each firm's investment strategy, proprietary data, research workflows, and reporting formats.

Its AI agents automatically generate research outputs based on schedules or market events, allowing analysts to focus on investment decisions instead of repetitive research tasks.

Growing Enterprise Adoption

According to the company, Pinegap has:

  • Deployed more than 1,000 AI agents

  • Serves 100+ institutional clients

  • Generates over 50,000 equity research reports every month

The platform is designed to help investment firms manage increasing data volumes and shorter research cycles while improving analyst productivity.

Funding to Accelerate Growth

The new funding will be used to:

  • Expand go-to-market and sales operations

  • Grow the engineering team

  • Build an in-house team of former equity research analysts

  • Continue developing AI-powered research capabilities
