Funding to Support Engineering and Pilot Projects
Mantle Energy plans to use the capital to grow its engineering team, build strategic partnerships, and complete operational planning for upcoming subsurface pilot deployments.
The company is currently focused on scaling its activated geothermal technology. The system is designed to repurpose depleted or low-producing oil and gas wells for thermal energy generation.
Company Focuses on Activated Geothermal Technology
Mantle Energy is led by James Franks, who was recently appointed as CEO.
The company develops an activated geothermal platform originally incubated by Hunt Innovative Technologies. Its technology uses underground thermal combustion processes to generate heat from existing oil and gas reservoirs. The captured heat is then converted into low-carbon baseload electricity for grid use.
Spinout From Hunt Energy Incubator
Alongside the funding round, Mantle Energy officially spun out from Hunt Energy’s incubator program.
The company said its platform is designed to recover value from underutilized reservoirs while also supporting underground carbon storage during energy production. The approach aims to combine geothermal energy generation with carbon management infrastructure.
