Pune-based Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre has raised ₹28 crore in a Series A funding round led by Alkemi Growth Capital. The organisation provides residential care for mental health conditions, addiction and dementia, and plans to use the fresh capital to expand its presence across India.

The funding will support entry into new geographies, expansion of clinical and staff capacity, development of specialised care programmes, and deeper insurance and corporate partnerships.

Founded by Amar Shinde, Vijaya Shinde and Hemant Shinde, Jagruti operates more than 19 centres across nine cities, with a combined capacity of over 1,600 beds and a team of more than 40 doctors.

The organisation says it has treated more than 82,000 individuals and now plans to expand its network significantly over the next three to four years.

Expanding residential mental healthcare services

Jagruti provides residential rehabilitation and care programmes across three primary areas: mental health conditions, addiction and substance use disorders, and neurological conditions, including dementia.

Its services are designed for individuals requiring structured care and support beyond conventional outpatient consultations.

The organisation operates centres in cities including Pune, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Chennai. Its existing network spans nine cities and includes more than 1,600 beds.

With a team of over 40 doctors, Jagruti combines clinical capacity with residential infrastructure to deliver specialised care programmes.

The company operates in a healthcare segment where services remain fragmented, with mental health and rehabilitation care often delivered through standalone clinics and smaller independent establishments.

Plans to double its network capacity

Jagruti's expansion plans are a major part of its next growth phase.

Over the next three to four years, the organisation aims to grow from more than 19 centres to over 40 centres across Tier I and Tier II cities.

It also plans to increase its total bed capacity from more than 1,600 to over 4,000 beds.

This expansion will require investment in clinical infrastructure, healthcare professionals and operational capacity. The latest funding is intended to support these requirements while allowing Jagruti to enter additional markets.

The organisation also plans to develop specialised care programmes to serve different patient requirements across mental health, addiction and neurological rehabilitation.

Strengthening insurance and corporate partnerships

Alongside physical expansion, Jagruti plans to deepen its relationships with insurance providers and corporate partners.

These partnerships form part of its strategy to expand access to structured rehabilitation services.

Insurance partnerships could help connect patients with covered treatment options, while corporate relationships may create additional channels for reaching individuals who need mental healthcare and rehabilitation support.

The organisation has not disclosed specific partnership agreements or the number of new insurance providers it intends to work with following the funding round.

Alkemi Growth Capital expands its healthcare portfolio

The Series A investment marks Alkemi Growth Capital's first investment in the mental health and rehabilitation segment of healthcare delivery.

The investor already has exposure to several healthcare and adjacent technology businesses.

Its portfolio includes Redcliffe Labs in diagnostics, Medvital in medical devices, Datar Cancer Genetics in in-vitro diagnostics, Medulance in emergency medical response, Alphadroid in autonomous mobility robots and Leumas in physical AI for pharmaceutical manufacturing.

The investment in Jagruti expands Alkemi's exposure into residential mental healthcare and rehabilitation services.

What comes next for Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre

Jagruti's immediate priority will be expanding its network while maintaining the clinical capacity required to support residential rehabilitation services.

Growing to more than 40 centres and over 4,000 beds represents a significant expansion from its current footprint. Executing that plan will require recruitment, infrastructure development and consistent clinical operations across multiple cities.

The organisation will also need to strengthen its insurance and corporate partnerships as it enters new markets.

Its reported history of treating more than 82,000 individuals provides an indication of its operating experience. The next phase will test its ability to scale that model across a wider geographical footprint.

With ₹28 crore in fresh funding from Alkemi Growth Capital, Jagruti is preparing to expand its role in India's mental health, addiction and rehabilitation care sector.
