Crane Venture Partners has raised $484 million across four new funds as the London-based venture capital firm expands its strategy of backing early-stage founders across Europe, the US and Asia-Pacific through a connected global investment platform.
The capital is spread across four vehicles: Crane III with $169 million, Crane APAC I with $150 million, Crane US I with $100 million and Crane Opportunity Fund I with $65 million.
The latest fundraising builds on Crane's long-running partnership with MassMutual Ventures, which has backed the firm's funds since 2018.
Building a Global Early-Stage Platform
Crane Venture Partners was founded in London in 2015 by Krishna Visvanathan and Scott Sage.
The two investors had previously worked together across seven European countries before establishing Crane. The firm's current footprint spans London, San Francisco, New York, Singapore and Bangalore, with more than 25 employees.
Crane typically invests between $500,000 and $5 million from inception through the seed stage.
Rather than operating separate investment strategies for each geography, the firm says it aims to operate as a single global platform, allowing founders to access investors, customers and networks across different markets.
"Talent is evenly distributed. Opportunity is not," said Krishna Visvanathan, co-founder and partner at Crane Venture Partners.
$484M Across Four Funds
The new capital gives Crane four investment vehicles covering different regions and strategies.
Crane III accounts for $169 million, while Crane APAC I has secured $150 million. Crane US I adds another $100 million and the Crane Opportunity Fund I contributes $65 million.
The APAC fund is notable for exceeding its original target. When Crane launched its APAC operation in September 2025, the fund had a target of $135 million. It has since grown to $150 million.
MassMutual Ventures remains a major partner across the platform, having supported Crane's funds since 2018.
In 2025, the relationship expanded further when Crane began managing MassMutual Ventures' Europe and APAC portfolio, which was valued at approximately $450 million across 40 companies at the time.
Investing From London to Bangalore
Crane's strategy is focused on finding technology companies at the earliest stages and supporting them as they expand internationally.
The firm's portfolio includes startups across areas such as AI, data infrastructure, payments and climate technology.
Crane was the lead investor in French AI speech startup pyannoteAI's $9 million seed round and backed Encord's $60 million Series C. It also participated in Amsterdam-based payments infrastructure company Silverflow's $40 million funding round.
The firm's global network is intended to provide founders with support beyond capital. For example, a startup originating in Bangalore could potentially use Crane's European network to find customers or partners in the region.
Competing With Global VC Platforms
Crane describes its approach as a global inception-to-seed platform.
Other major venture firms, including Sequoia Capital, Accel and Lightspeed, also maintain coordinated investment operations across multiple regions. Crane's model differs in its stated focus on maintaining stage discipline around inception-through-seed investments across its global platform.
The fundraising comes as venture capital markets show signs of improvement following a difficult fundraising environment in 2025.
According to PitchBook's second-quarter 2026 European venture report, European fundraising has shown early signs of improvement, supported by larger fund closes.
For Crane, the latest fundraising provides additional capital to continue its early-stage strategy across Europe, the US and APAC.
A Connected Model for Early-Stage Founders
The firm's four new funds give Crane a broader pool of capital while maintaining its focus on early-stage technology companies.
Its presence across London, San Francisco, New York, Singapore and Bangalore also gives the firm a network that can potentially connect startups with opportunities across multiple markets.
The next stage for Crane will be demonstrating how effectively that global network translates into practical support for founders - from early capital and hiring to international customers, partnerships and follow-on financing.
