CodeRabbit Raises $143 Million Series C at $1.5 Billion Valuation
San Francisco-based AI code review startup CodeRabbit has raised $143 million in Series C funding at a $1.5 billion valuation, less than a year after its $60 million Series B.
The round was co-led by Atomico and Smash Capital, with participation from BMW i Ventures, Datadog, Hirtle Callaghan, Scenic Management, and existing investors including CRV, Scale Venture Partners, Flex Capital, Pelion Venture Partners, Harmony Partners, and Engineering Capital.
The latest round brings CodeRabbit's total funding to approximately $231 million.
From AI Code Review to Change Management
Founded in 2023 by CEO Harjot Gill and COO Gur Singh, CodeRabbit initially focused on using AI to review software code, identifying bugs, security issues, and quality problems before code reaches production.
The company is now expanding into what it calls Agentic Change Management, designed to help engineering teams understand, prioritize, and monitor software changes as AI-generated code becomes more common.
The new product suite includes Triage, Change Stack, and CodeRabbit Security.
Triage helps identify which pull requests require human attention, while Change Stack provides context about the potential impact of code changes across a codebase.
CodeRabbit Security continuously scans production code for potential vulnerabilities.
Scaling AI-Powered Code Review
CodeRabbit now processes more than two million code reviews each week for over 17,000 customers, including NVIDIA, BMW, and Adyen.
The company reported that its revenue has increased more than fivefold year over year.
As AI coding agents generate increasing amounts of software, CodeRabbit is positioning its platform as an independent layer for reviewing and governing those changes before and after deployment.
Global Expansion
CodeRabbit is headquartered in San Francisco and has opened a London office as it expands its European presence.
The company plans to use the new funding to expand across Europe and Asia, including Japan, while continuing research and product development.
CodeRabbit also plans to invest more than $10 million over the next 12 months to keep its AI review tools free for open-source maintainers.
The company is betting that AI-generated software will require a new layer of automated quality control and governance as development teams increasingly rely on AI agents.
