Stability AI, the company behind AI image generation model Stable Diffusion, has raised $76 million in Series B funding, bringing its total fundraising to $232 million.

The round included strategic participation from Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group, Warner Music Group and gaming company Electronic Arts, alongside AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures.

Founded in 2019, Stability AI develops generative AI models for image, music and video creation. The company is led by CEO Prem Akkaraju, who joined in 2024.

The fresh capital will be used to expand Stability AI’s creative production product suite and grow its professional services business.

The company has increasingly focused on integrating generative AI into entertainment workflows, signing partnerships with Universal Music Group, Electronic Arts and Warner Music Group to co-develop AI tools for creative production.

Stability AI says its latest funding reflects growing demand for generative AI tools across music, gaming, video and visual content creation.

The company has also faced legal challenges around AI training data, including copyright litigation from Getty Images in the UK and US.

With strategic backing from major entertainment companies and AMD Ventures, Stability AI is positioning its models beyond standalone image generation toward broader AI-powered creative production.
