Amsterdam-based fintech startup Neno has raised €6.6 million in seed funding led by New York-based AlleyCorp to build an AI-powered accounting platform for small and medium-sized businesses.
The round also saw participation from Motive Partners, Firstminute Capital and angel investors from companies including Hugging Face, Mollie, Juni, Deel, Miro, Coinbase, PayPal and Navro.
Founded in 2025 by Nick Knuppe, Neno provides an AI-powered general ledger that brings together data from business bank accounts, corporate cards, bills and receivables and automatically reconciles the information.
Knuppe previously worked as a global programme manager at Booking.com and as head of product marketing at Mollie before founding Neno.
Neno combines its software with human accounting expertise, allowing accountants to review the AI-generated results while businesses receive accounting, tax and payroll services through a single platform.
The company says its AI ledger can enable one accountant to manage up to 200 small business clients, compared with around 30 clients typically managed through traditional workflows.
Neno claims its platform can reduce administrative work for customers by around eight hours per month, lower annual accounting fees by 20% and make reconciliation and VAT preparation five times faster.
The company launched in the Netherlands at the beginning of 2026 and has since acquired nearly 200 customers, including SOUS, FeedbackFruits, The Cirqle, Airweave and Rally.
Neno is targeting a European accounting and professional services market where more than half of the region’s 26 million SMEs outsource accounting, payroll and tax services.
The company competes with AI-powered accounting platforms such as Pennylane, Digits and Vic.ai, while established players including Xero and Intuit’s QuickBooks remain major products in the market.
Unlike software-only accounting platforms, Neno combines its technology with in-house accounting, tax and payroll services. This approach is designed to give businesses a single system for financial operations rather than requiring them to coordinate separately with banks, bookkeepers and tax advisers.
The new funding will be used to launch Neno Labs, expand its accounting and go-to-market teams and support entry into additional European markets in 2027.
Neno's longer-term ambition is to automate more of the accounting workflow while keeping human accountants involved in reviewing and overseeing financial work.
