Healthtech startup Rio Health has raised Rs 43.08 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by new investor Version One Ventures, with participation from existing backers Xeed Ventures, Good Capital and Amplify Partner.

The Bengaluru-based startup is building an AI-powered quick-commerce platform focused on medicines and healthcare essentials, with its Rio Health platform allowing users to order medicines and other healthcare products through WhatsApp.

According to regulatory filings accessed by Entrackr, Rio Health's board approved the allotment of 7,130 compulsorily convertible preference shares (CCPS) at an issue price of Rs 60,415 per share. The allotment enabled the company to raise the Rs 43.08 crore in fresh capital.

Version One Ventures Leads Rs 43.08 Crore Round

Version One Ventures led the latest funding round with an investment of Rs 21.30 crore, making it the largest contributor to the round.

Existing investors also participated. Xeed Ventures invested Rs 11.84 crore, while Good Capital Fund II contributed Rs 9.47 crore. Amplify IV PCC invested an additional Rs 47 lakh.

Based on its analysis of the regulatory filings, Entrackr estimates Rio Health's post-money valuation at approximately Rs 170 crore.

Following the latest share allotment, Xeed Ventures holds a 21.11% stake in the company. Good Capital owns 17.07%, while new investor Version One Ventures holds a 12.86% stake.

The company's two co-founders, Ankur Agrawal and Amit Ahuja, each hold a 17.50% stake following the funding round.

The latest capital gives Rio Health additional resources to expand its operations while continuing to develop its technology and healthcare delivery platform.

Building AI-Powered Healthcare Quick Commerce

Founded by Ankur Agrawal and Amit Ahuja,Rio Health is focused on combining artificial intelligence with quick-commerce infrastructure for the healthcare and pharmacy market.

Its Rio Health platform allows consumers to order medicines and healthcare products through WhatsApp rather than relying solely on a conventional standalone shopping application.

The platform is designed around convenience and rapid delivery, with the company offering deliveries in approximately 15 to 30 minutes.

This model positions Rio Health at the intersection of several growing areas: digital healthcare, online pharmacy, conversational commerce and quick commerce.

Instead of requiring consumers to navigate a traditional ecommerce interface, the company uses WhatsApp as the ordering channel, potentially making the process more familiar and accessible to users who already use the messaging platform regularly.

The company's focus on medicines and healthcare essentials also gives its quick-commerce model a different use case from conventional grocery and food delivery platforms.

Capital to Support Expansion

Rio Health said the fresh funding will be used for general operating and working capital requirements, capital expenditure and strengthening its capital base.

The company also plans to use the funds to support the expansion of its business operations.

The funding comes as Rio Health continues developing its healthcare-focused quick-commerce proposition and expanding the operational infrastructure required to fulfill orders rapidly.

For a business promising 15-30 minute medicine and healthcare deliveries, expansion requires more than just an ordering interface. Inventory availability, fulfillment infrastructure, technology, logistics and working capital all play an important role in meeting delivery expectations.

The latest round provides capital across those broader operating requirements while allowing the company to continue building its platform.

Earlier Fundraising Discussions

Rio Health's latest round follows earlier reports that the company was in discussions to raise approximately $5 million.

A Moneycontrol report had previously reported that the startup was in talks with Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal, Canada-based funds and other investors.

The newly disclosed Rs 43.08 crore round represents a formal capital raise backed by a combination of a new institutional investor and existing shareholders.

Version One Ventures' participation also adds a new investor to Rio Health's shareholder base, while Xeed Ventures and Good Capital continue their backing of the company.

A Focus on Faster Access to Healthcare Essentials

Rio Health's model is built around reducing the friction involved in obtaining medicines and healthcare products.

Through Rio Health, users can place orders through WhatsApp, with the company targeting delivery within 15 to 30 minutes.

The approach reflects the broader shift toward faster and more convenient digital access to essential products. In healthcare, however, operational execution is particularly important because medicine availability, fulfillment accuracy and delivery reliability can directly affect the user experience.

Rio Healths new funding will therefore support both the technology side of the platform and the operational infrastructure needed to expand its business.

With Rs 43.08 crore in fresh capital, Version One Ventures joining its investor base and continued participation from Xeed Ventures, Good Capital and Amplify Partner, Rio Health now has additional resources to develop its AI-powered healthcare commerce platform and expand its operations.

The company remains focused on its core proposition: enabling consumers to order medicines and healthcare essentials through a familiar conversational channel while targeting rapid delivery.
