Profound has raised $180 million in Series D funding at a $1.8 billion valuation, giving the AI marketing software company fresh capital to expand beyond AI search tracking into content production, marketing automation and advertising.

The round was co-led by Sequoia Capital and Kleiner Perkins. The financing comes less than seven months after Profound announced a $96 million investment at a $1 billion valuation in February 2026.

The latest round brings Profound's valuation to $1.8 billion as the company broadens its platform from helping marketers understand how AI assistants represent their brands to helping them act on that information through automated marketing workflows.

From AI Search Tracking to Marketing Execution

Profound initially built its platform around monitoring how brands appear in responses generated by AI services such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.

Its search tools track brand mentions, sentiment and cited sources, allowing marketing teams to identify how AI systems describe their products and why competitors may be appearing in recommendations.

The company is now expanding that intelligence into marketing execution.

Its AI Marketer identifies opportunities, proposes projects and assigns tasks to software agents. Profound's Context Manager can also incorporate company documents, meeting transcripts and internal communications to provide additional context for marketing workflows.

This allows the platform to move from simply telling marketers what is happening in AI search to helping them respond.

Expanding Into Content and Advertising

Advertising is another major part of Profound's expansion.

Its Ads Studio workflow supports creating, editing and launching advertising campaigns through OpenAI, Google and Meta's advertising managers. The platform can also track campaign performance through its own pixel.

Ads Studio was initially introduced in invite-only beta in July, meaning the latest funding is supporting the expansion of an existing product rather than funding its initial launch.

The broader platform gives Profound the opportunity to sell into multiple marketing budgets, including AI search visibility, content creation, campaign management and advertising.

More Than 1,000 Enterprise Brands

Profound says it now serves more than 1,000 enterprise brands, including Comcast, Walmart and The Estée Lauder Companies.

The company also told TechCrunch that its revenue tripled over the six months leading up to the latest funding announcement. Profound has not publicly disclosed an absolute revenue figure alongside that growth claim.

The company's expansion comes as businesses increasingly experiment with AI-generated answers as another channel through which consumers discover products, services and brands.

Connecting AI Referrals to Revenue

Profound's platform is also moving beyond simple visibility measurements.

The company introduced a Google Analytics integration that connects AI-originating website visits with recorded revenue events. When a visit and conversion are captured, marketers can identify purchases associated with AI referral traffic.

A Profound-published case study involving skincare company Omnilux reported that AI-attributed revenue increased from approximately 1% to 3% of total revenue during its work with the platform.

However, the company notes that this represents a change in revenue share rather than overall sales growth, and the case study is vendor-published rather than an independent evaluation.

Profound has also studied the relationship between AI mentions and website traffic. A July 2026 study covering more than two million AI conversations and associated browsing activity reported increased brand-site visits following AI assistant mentions.

The study did not measure purchases and was not a randomized experiment, meaning increased traffic cannot automatically be interpreted as incremental revenue caused by AI optimization.

Measuring AI Marketing Productivity

Profound is also developing tools to quantify the productivity impact of its AI agents.

On September 14, the company introduced Command Center, which tracks agent usage and estimates the number of hours saved across marketing teams.

The calculations use default assumptions about task completion times, which customers can modify. The company therefore provides an estimate of potential time savings rather than a direct measurement of labor costs eliminated.

For marketing teams, the broader value proposition is shifting from visibility into AI search toward a complete workflow covering research, content production, campaign execution and performance measurement.

$180M to Build a Broader Marketing Platform

The latest Series D gives Profound significant capital to continue expanding this broader product strategy.

The company now has more than 1,000 enterprise customers and a $1.8 billion valuation, while its product portfolio increasingly spans AI search analytics, marketing agents, content workflows and advertising.

As companies adapt to AI-driven changes in search and consumer discovery, Profound is positioning itself not only as a tool for measuring how AI talks about a brand, but as a platform designed to help marketing teams research, create, launch and measure campaigns across the emerging AI-powered marketing landscape.
