Bengaluru-based childcare startup Maasi has raised Rs 6 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by Better Capital, with participation from Antler India and several angel investors. The round included Rapido founder Rishikesh SR, Shadowfax founder Vaibhav Khandelwal, Sumit Khandelwal, Siddhant Goyal, and Multiply Ventures' Sanjay Ramakrishnan.

Founded in 2025 by Aashu Manchali, Gargi Pandey, and Reshov Roy, Maasi provides at-home childcare by recruiting, training, paying, and supporting caregivers. The company aims to help families find trusted childcare professionals through a more structured and accountable service.

The startup plans to use the fresh capital to scale caregiver recruitment and training, develop its technology platforms, and expand its team in Bengaluru.

Strong Early Demand After Public Launch

Maasi's public launch on October 20 generated a waitlist of more than 4,000 parents within five days, according to the company.

It has served more than 1,200 parents through a network of over 500 caregivers. Maasi also reported week-on-week growth of 20%, indicating early momentum as it builds its childcare services in Bengaluru.

These figures suggest demand for organised at-home childcare, although converting waitlist registrations into recurring customers will be an important next step as the company scales.

For Maasi, growth depends not only on acquiring families but also on recruiting enough suitable caregivers and maintaining service quality across bookings.

How Maasi's Childcare Model Works

Maasi connects families with caregivers who undergo verification and training before meeting customers.

Its training programme is free and is led by professionals including preschool directors, nurses, and former airline cabin crew trainers. The company says this approach is intended to prepare caregivers to provide childcare in family homes.

The startup's model places responsibility on the platform to recruit and support caregivers, rather than leaving families to independently find and assess childcare providers.

This can help make the process more structured for parents. However, consistency will depend on the quality of verification, training, caregiver availability, and ongoing support as the network expands.

Pricing and Service Options

Maasi offers on-demand nanny services starting at Rs 199 per hour and monthly subscriptions starting at Rs 5,999.

The pricing gives families options based on their childcare needs, from hourly support to more regular arrangements. Actual costs may vary depending on the service selected.

The startup has also introduced Maasi Governess, an English-speaking nanny service focused on screen-free engagement and childcare.

This offering gives Maasi another way to position its services around children's daily care and engagement, while serving parents seeking a particular type of at-home childcare experience.

Funding to Expand Recruitment and Technology

The Rs 6 crore pre-seed round will support three key priorities: caregiver recruitment, caregiver training, and technology development. Maasi also plans to expand its team in Bengaluru.

Scaling a childcare platform presents operational challenges beyond building a booking interface. The company needs to maintain a reliable caregiver network, match families with suitable professionals, and support consistent service delivery as demand increases.

Technology can help coordinate bookings and platform operations, while investment in recruitment and training can support the supply side of the business.

The company's ability to expand without compromising its verification and training processes will be important as it serves more families.

Investor Support From Startup Founders and Early-Stage Backers

Better Capital led the funding round, with Antler India also participating. The angel investors include founders and operators from businesses such as Rapido and Shadowfax.

The participation of these investors provides Maasi with early-stage capital as it develops its service and expands in Bengaluru. The company has not disclosed a detailed allocation of the Rs 6 crore across recruitment, training, technology, and team expansion.

For an early-stage childcare business, funding can help build the operational foundation needed to serve more households, but long-term progress will depend on customer retention, caregiver quality, and the economics of delivering the service.

What Comes Next for Maasi?

Maasi enters its next phase with a reported waitlist of more than 4,000 parents, over 1,200 parents served, and a caregiver network exceeding 500 people.

The fresh funding will help the startup strengthen its recruitment and training operations while developing the technology needed to support its services.

Its next challenge is to turn early demand into a dependable, scalable childcare business. That means balancing growth with caregiver availability, service consistency, family trust, and repeat usage.

For India's childcare services market, Maasi is building around a practical household need: finding reliable support at home. Whether it can establish a lasting advantage will depend on how well it delivers that trust as the business grows.
