Freight Hero Secures $5 Million in Seed Funding
Durham, North Carolina-based Freight Hero has raised $5 million in Seed funding to expand its AI-powered platform for freight brokerage operations.
The round was led by Field Ventures, with participation from Flybridge Capital, Tip Top VC, and Front Porch Venture Partners.
The latest funding brings the company's total funding to more than $6 million.
Led by CEO André Luis Martins Filho, Freight Hero combines artificial intelligence with human operational support to automate back-office workflows for freight brokers.
Automating Freight Brokerage with AI
Freight Hero's platform uses AI agents alongside human operations teams to automate routine freight brokerage tasks, including shipment tracking, status updates, and exception management.
For more complex situations, human operational coordinators step in to manage edge cases, creating a hybrid AI and human workflow.
The company says its platform helps brokerages reduce direct operating costs by more than 20% while minimizing manual administrative work, allowing teams to focus on customer and carrier relationships.
To date, Freight Hero has managed more than 40,000 freight loads and handled millions of carrier communications.
Supporting Growth and Product Expansion
The newly raised funding will be used to expand Freight Hero's go-to-market strategy, grow its engineering and operations teams, and extend its AI platform into adjacent logistics functions.
The investment supports the company's broader vision of modernizing freight brokerage operations through AI-powered automation.
