Definedge, a Pune-based fintech and brokerage startup, has raised Rs 22 crore in a pre-Series A funding round as it looks to expand its wealth-tech platform, strengthen trading infrastructure and accelerate the adoption of systematic investing tools.
The latest round takes Definedge's total funding raised to Rs 30 crore. Existing backers Nitin Agarwal and D. Prasad participated again, while Anant Jain and Sachin Kasera joined the company as new investors.
The fresh capital will be used across several areas of Definedge's business, including infrastructure, low-latency execution, product development and expansion of its trading and investing platforms.
Building a full-stack wealth-tech ecosystem
Founded in 2021 by Prashant Shah and Rajesh Badiye, Definedge operates a full-stack wealth-tech ecosystem designed for retail traders and investors.
The company's platform portfolio includes more than 14 products and platforms, spanning trading, investing, research and financial education.
Some of its flagship products include Opstra, Zone, Algostra, Momentify and Gurukul.
Rather than operating as a conventional brokerage alone, Definedge is building a broader technology ecosystem around the investment journey.
The company provides tools intended to help users analyze markets, develop trading strategies, automate systematic approaches and learn about investing.
Its latest funding round is aimed at expanding this ecosystem while increasing the company's ability to serve a growing user base.
Scaling trading infrastructure
A significant portion of the new capital will be deployed toward infrastructure and low-latency execution.
For trading platforms, execution speed and infrastructure reliability can be important components of the user experience, particularly for users relying on active trading strategies.
Definedge plans to strengthen this technology layer as it scales its customer base.
The company will also continue investing in Zone and Opstra, two of its flagship trading products.
Opstra is positioned within Definedge's ecosystem as a platform for options and trading analysis, while Zone forms part of the company's broader suite of trading technology.
The funding is expected to help Definedge expand the capabilities of these platforms while supporting higher usage volumes.
Algostra and no-code algo trading
Another major focus for Definedge is Algostra.
The company plans to expand Algostra into a no-code retail algorithmic trading platform for the Indian market.
Algorithmic trading has traditionally required technical knowledge and programming skills, creating a barrier for many retail investors who may have a trading strategy but lack the ability to translate it into software.
A no-code approach attempts to reduce that barrier by allowing users to construct or deploy systematic trading strategies without having to write code themselves.
Definedge's investment in Algostra reflects its broader strategy of bringing more systematic approaches to retail investors.
The company also plans to increase the adoption of AI-enabled platforms across its ecosystem.
Momentify's wealth creation ambitions
Momentify is another major priority for the company.
Definedge currently positions Momentify as a systematic investing tool and plans to develop it further into a broader wealth creation platform.
According to the company, Momentify has already crossed Rs 1,000 crore in assets under management.
Definedge is targeting Rs 5,000 crore in AUM through Momentify over the next 24 months.
Achieving that target would require significant growth in both assets managed through the platform and the number of users adopting its systematic investment approach.
The company plans to use the new funding to support that expansion.
Growing adoption of systematic investing
Definedge's product strategy is centered around helping retail participants move toward more systematic approaches to trading and investing.
The company says platforms such as Momentify and Algostra use technology and AI to help users adopt structured investment and trading approaches.
This is part of a broader shift in India's wealth-tech market, where platforms are increasingly combining brokerage services with analytics, automation, financial education and portfolio-management tools.
For Definedge, the objective is to build multiple entry points into its ecosystem rather than relying solely on brokerage transactions.
User growth
Definedge says its user base has grown by 125% over the past 14 months.
The company also claims its user base has increased tenfold over the last 36 months.
The growth comes as Indian retail participation in financial markets continues to expand and investors increasingly use digital platforms for trading, portfolio management and research.
Definedge plans to scale its technology, service and operational infrastructure alongside this growth.
The company also intends to continue developing Gurukul, its learning ecosystem for retail market participants.
Expanding financial education
Gurukul forms the education component of Definedge's wider platform ecosystem.
The company plans to scale the learning platform for retail participants as it expands its technology offerings.
Financial education can play an important role in the company's broader strategy because many newer investors require market research, strategy and educational resources alongside their brokerage accounts.
By combining trading tools with learning products, Definedge is attempting to create a more integrated ecosystem for retail market participants.
Competitive Indian wealth-tech market
Definedge is operating in an increasingly competitive Indian brokerage and wealth-tech market.
Established platforms such as Groww, Zerodha, Angel One, Upstox and Dhan have built significant retail user bases.
At the same time, newer platforms are targeting younger and first-time investors through trading analytics and wealth-management products.
The source identifies Sahi, Trackk and Zomint among newer companies in the segment.
Sahi raised $33 million during 2026, while Trackk and Zomint were reported to be in funding discussions.
Other wealth-tech companies have also attracted significant capital.
Navi raised $100 million from Prosus in its first institutional funding round, while wealth-management platform Centricity raised $27 million.
India's fintech funding environment
Definedge's funding comes amid continued investment in India's fintech ecosystem.
Indian fintech startups raised approximately $2 billion across 106 funding rounds during the first half of 2026, according to the source.
The broader market includes companies spanning payments, lending, insurance, wealth management, banking infrastructure and investment technology.
Within wealth-tech and brokerage, companies are also expanding beyond traditional Indian equity trading.
Groww, Zerodha, Angel One and Upstox have received IFSCA approvals to facilitate international equity investing through GIFT City.
This expansion is creating additional opportunities for Indian investment platforms to offer products beyond domestic equities.
Definedge's next phase
The Rs 22 crore pre-Series A round gives Definedge additional capital to develop its infrastructure and expand its product ecosystem.
The company plans to invest in low-latency execution, scale Zone and Opstra, develop Algostra into a no-code retail algo-trading platform and expand Momentify from a systematic investing tool into a broader wealth creation platform.
It will also continue expanding Gurukul and investing in its technology, service and operational infrastructure.
With more than Rs 1,000 crore already in AUM through Momentify and a stated target of Rs 5,000 crore within 24 months, the company is setting an ambitious growth target for its wealth-tech business.
Founded by Prashant Shah and Rajesh Badiye, Definedge is now using its latest funding round to move beyond its existing brokerage and trading products toward a broader technology ecosystem for retail investing.
