Role overview

Summary

As a Senior Product Manager focusing on Licensing & Billing, your primary goal will be to simplify and ensure reliability for customers purchasing, paying for, and expanding their use of n8n. You will own the foundational commercial systems, including licensing, entitlements, customer accounts, and the metering and billing platform for both Cloud and Enterprise offerings.

JOB SUMMARY

n8n is seeking a Product Manager to own and improve its licensing, entitlements, customer accounts, metering, and billing systems across Cloud and Enterprise. The role focuses on consolidating existing billing systems into a reliable platform that supports customer purchases, subscriptions, usage-based billing, enterprise contracts, and account management.

The Product Manager will define the product strategy and roadmap, collaborate with Engineering, Finance, Sales, and go-to-market teams, and ensure accurate billing data, streamlined commercial processes, and scalable licensing infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Define and communicate the Licensing and Billing product strategy and roadmap in collaboration with Engineering, Product leadership, Finance, and go-to-market teams.

- Prioritize investments based on revenue accuracy, enterprise requirements, data quality, and engineering effort.

- Conduct discovery with enterprise customers, Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and Revenue Operations to identify purchasing, renewal, and expansion challenges.

- Own the license server and entitlement model across Cloud, self-hosted, air-gapped, and OEM deployments.

- Establish a single source of truth for customer plans, contracts, features, license issuance, renewals, and validation.

- Develop customer accounts, purchases, license keys, and activations as core product capabilities supported by APIs.

- Automate Salesforce deal-to-entitlement workflows to reduce manual processing.

- Manage subscription billing, usage metering, quota consumption, billable executions, and overage charges across Cloud and Enterprise.

- Lead the migration from Paddle Classic and consolidate Cloud and Enterprise billing into a unified platform.

- Build reliable mechanisms for usage-based enterprise billing and overage charging.

- Align architecture and platform decisions with Engineering, Finance, Sales, and go-to-market teams.

- Establish clear ownership boundaries, success metrics, and accountability for product outcomes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Six or more years of product management experience, including substantial ownership of billing, licensing, entitlements, or quote-to-cash systems at a B2B SaaS company.

- Proven experience delivering cross-functional systems changes involving Finance, Sales Operations, and Engineering.

- Strong understanding of data models, APIs, reconciliation, idempotency, and discrepancies between systems.

- Exceptional attention to detail, particularly regarding billing accuracy and data integrity.

- Ability to prioritize ambiguous foundational work and connect technical investments to commercial outcomes.

- Strong ownership, autonomy, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication skills across technical, financial, and commercial teams.

- Understanding of licensing and metering requirements for self-hosted, air-gapped, and OEM deployments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with usage-based or hybrid subscription and usage billing models.

- Hands-on experience with Paddle, Stripe, Chargebee, Zuora, or similar billing platforms.

- Experience leading billing-provider migrations.

- Ability to read code, query databases, or build technical prototypes.

- Experience integrating Salesforce or other CRM systems with billing platforms.

- Familiarity with workflow automation, AI agent orchestration, open-source products, or developer communities.

- Strong written communication skills and a documentation-first approach.
