Junior Real Estate Analyst
Novogradac & Company LLP is seeking a Junior Real Estate Analyst to support the Valuation Services Department with real estate research, market analysis, property studies, and reporting. The role reports to a Manager or Principal and requires working in the office for at least the first four months, with flexible or hybrid arrangements potentially available thereafter with Partner approval.
Responsibilities:
Conduct economic and market research using telephone interviews, internet resources, and other data sources.
Identify subsidized, LIHTC/tax credit, and market-rate property comparables.
Perform preliminary property screenings, market analysis, comparable rent surveys, and demand analyses.
Interview housing authorities, planners, senior centers, chambers of commerce, property managers, developers, brokers, and other industry contacts to understand market conditions and demand.
Research new developments through developer outreach, newspapers, and online resources.
Request and analyze improved-property and land comparables from appraisers and brokers.
Analyze demographics, employment, wages, median incomes, economic trends, and their relationship to affordable housing demand.
Synthesize research and prepare market study reports, including primary market area definitions, comparable property selection, and demand analysis.
Assist with appraisals of proposed and existing real estate developments.
Analyze housing markets, including rent-versus-buy trends, construction activity, apartment markets, and third-party market studies.
Quantify excluded properties within market areas.
Conduct in-person site visits for assigned properties.
Complete Novogradac’s Affordable Housing Training & Assessment Program within required timelines.
Support additional projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 1–2 years of experience in real estate research, market analysis, or commercial appraisal.
Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle history check.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort conducting telephone interviews and synthesizing research into written reports.
Strong analytical, research, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize competing assignments, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Strong Microsoft Office skills; advanced Excel skills preferred.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically by car, air, rail, or other transportation as needed.
