Summary and responsibilities
Role overview
Summary
This front-line Leasing Consultant role involves touring, qualifying, and closing future residents for apartment communities in the Bay Area. Responsibilities include market surveys, preparing rental agreements, managing availability, and providing customer service to prospects. The position requires a mix of sales, customer service, and administrative work, with weekend shifts.
Leasing roles at apartment communities in the Bay Area carry real weight. Mountain View's rental market stays competitive year-round, and the person on the front line of touring, qualifying, and closing future residents directly affects occupancy and NOI. This is that front-line role.
What the Job Actually Involves
Prometheus calls this position a Regional Neighbor Ambassador, which reflects something real about the scope. You're not just running tours and collecting applications. On any given day you might be conducting a market survey in the morning, preparing rental agreements at midday, posting updated availability, and then pivoting back to a walk-in prospect who has questions about move-in timelines. The mix of sales, customer service, and administrative work is genuine.
Weekends are a required part of the schedule. Traffic peaks on Saturdays and Sundays, so that's when the community needs coverage. Your regular days off will fall during the week. That trade-off is worth understanding before you apply.
Pay starts at $25.00 to $26.25 per hour, with a $200 incentive per signed lease on top of base. There's also a discretionary semi-annual bonus, weekend shift premium pay, and additional bonuses tied to referrals, lease-up performance, and training. Benefits include 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and eligible dependents.
Who Fits This Role
Prometheus explicitly hires across industries. A background in retail, hospitality, or any customer-facing sales environment translates well here. Prior property management experience isn't required.
Strong candidates in leasing roles like this one tend to share a few traits worth calling out:
They move between tasks without losing momentum. Leasing offices don't queue work neatly.
They follow up. A prospect who tours on Saturday and doesn't hear back by Monday afternoon is likely already looking elsewhere.
They can read what a prospect actually needs and adjust their approach, rather than running the same script on everyone.
They handle administrative details accurately. Errors in rental agreements or lease files create downstream problems for the whole team.
This role sits at the entry point of a property management career path that can move toward assistant manager, property manager, and eventually regional or portfolio-level positions. The administrative and sales exposure you get here builds a foundation that transfers directly into those steps.
