Italy-based travel-tech company WeRoad has raised $58M in a Series C funding round led by Airbnb. Existing investor H14 also participated in the round.
The company said it will use the new capital to support international expansion and prepare for its entry into the US market.
Founded in 2017, WeRoad operates a travel platform focused on group trips for millennials and solo travelers. The company follows an asset-light model and does not own hotels or transportation services. Instead, it organizes travel experiences by combining logistics, technology, and community-based interactions.
Focus on Group Travel Experiences
WeRoad connects travelers before trips through its app, chat groups, and offline meetups. The platform aims to create social interactions among participants before they travel together.
The company organizes travelers into small groups, usually with up to 15 people. These groups are formed based on age categories and travel interests. Trip themes include culture, adventure, nature, and leisure-focused experiences.
Travel Coordinators and Local Experiences
The platform also works with a decentralized network of travel coordinators. These coordinators manage local arrangements during trips while helping travelers interact with each other throughout the journey.
In addition, WeRoad focuses on itineraries built around local experiences and cultural activities. Many trips include community-based stays and regional experiences instead of traditional tourism-focused packages.
Andrea D’Amico currently serves as CEO of the company.
