US-based defense technology startup Shield AI is raising $2 billion in a Series G funding round. The round values the company at $12.7 billion. This development comes as the company continues to expand its artificial intelligence software for autonomous systems.
Funding Led by Global Investors
The funding round is led by Advent International. It is co-led by JPMorganChase’s Strategic Investment Group. In addition, Snowpoint Ventures and Riot Ventures have also participated in the round.
Meanwhile, funds managed by Blackstone will invest $500 million in preferred equity. The firm will also provide a $250 million delayed draw facility. As a result, Blackstone’s total commitment could reach up to $750 million.
Focus on Simulation and Defense Systems
Shield AI plans to acquire simulation software company Aechelon Technology. The company stated that the acquisition will support its work with the Department of War’s Joint Simulation Environment.
