Remedium Bio Secures $10 Million Series A Funding

Boston-based preclinical gene therapy company Remedium Bio has announced the initial close of a planned $10 million Series A financing to advance its platform for durable and adjustable gene therapies for chronic diseases.

The round is led by Lifespan Vision Ventures, with participation from Eli Lilly and Company and HKX Capital. Harry Robb of Lifespan Vision Ventures has joined Remedium Bio’s board. The company expects additional investors to participate before the financing reaches its final close.

Adjustable Gene Therapy Platform

Remedium Bio is developing its proprietary Prometheus platform, a dose-adjustable gene therapy technology designed to enable long-lasting production of therapeutic proteins following a single minimally invasive injection.

The platform uses adipocytes, or fat cells, at the injection site as long-term producers of therapeutic proteins. Rather than repeatedly administering protein-based medicines, Remedium aims to provide genetic instructions that enable the patient's own cells to produce therapeutic proteins over an extended period.

A key feature of the platform is the ability to adjust therapeutic protein expression after treatment according to a patient's changing needs.

Applications Across Chronic Diseases

Remedium Bio is focused on developing treatments for conditions with significant unmet clinical needs across:

• Endocrinology

• Immunology

• Neurology

• Musculoskeletal diseases

The company's stated areas of interest include type 2 diabetes, obesity, osteoarthritis, and stroke.

Funding to Advance Clinical Development

The Series A financing will support Remedium Bio's lead programs, expansion of its platform technologies, and preparations for first-in-human studies.

The company is aiming to address limitations associated with conventional chronic protein therapies, which often require repeated administration over long periods.

Leadership

Remedium Bio is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts and is led by CEO and co-founder Frank Luppino.

The company remains at the preclinical stage, with the latest financing supporting its progression toward clinical development.

The broader goal is to develop gene therapies that combine the durability of genetic medicine with the ability to adjust therapeutic protein production over time.
