Moa Technology Secures £22.2 Million Series C Funding
Oxford-based agricultural technology company Moa Technology has raised £22.2 million in Series C funding to accelerate the development of next-generation weed control technologies.
The round was co-led by Oxford Science Enterprises and Supernova Invest, with participation from Agri Investment Fund, GrainInnovate (GRDC), Infinity Investment Partners, Magdalen College Oxford, and existing investors Lansdowne Partners, Parkwalk, and Oxford University Innovation.
Founded in 2017 by Professor Liam Dolan and Dr Clément Champion as a spin-out from the University of Oxford's Department of Plant Sciences, the company is led by CEO Dr Virginia Corless.
Developing New Solutions for Herbicide Resistance
Moa Technology focuses on discovering new modes of action to combat herbicide-resistant weeds, a growing challenge for global agriculture.
The company has screened more than 900,000 compounds, identifying over 80 new mechanisms for weed control, with several candidates currently in their third year of international field trials.
In 2025, Moa introduced Moa Amplifiers, products designed to enhance the effectiveness of existing herbicides, allowing farmers to reduce chemical usage while maintaining weed control.
Rather than manufacturing herbicides itself, Moa licenses its discoveries to major agricultural companies, including partnerships with Corteva Agriscience, Nufarm, Gowan, and Certis Belchim.
Supporting Commercial Growth
The newly raised capital will be used to advance the company's three most mature development programs toward commercialization, expand its early-stage research pipeline, and further develop the Moa Amplifiers product line.
The funding will also support continued collaboration with global agricultural partners as the company scales its technology platform.
