Grenoble, France-based ENGO has raised €5.1 million in a funding round to support business expansion and accelerate product development.
The investment was backed by Ventech, Odyssée Venture, and Bpifrance Amorçage Industriel.
According to the company, the fresh capital will help scale its operations while supporting the continued development of its smart eyewear technology for endurance sports.
ENGO Develops Smart Glasses for Performance Tracking
ENGO designs and manufactures lightweight augmented reality (AR) smart glasses for endurance athletes, including runners, cyclists, and triathletes.
The company is led by CEO Eric Marcellin-Dibon and COO Fabrice Berger Duquene. It focuses on wearable technology that allows athletes to monitor performance data without looking away from the road or trail.
Heads-Up Display Shows Real-Time Performance Data
ENGO's smart glasses use the company's proprietary ActiveLook heads-up display (HUD) technology. The system projects real-time performance metrics directly onto the lens, allowing users to access information while remaining focused on their activity.
Athletes can view details such as heart rate, pace, power, elapsed time, and distance through a simple monochrome display.
Lightweight Design and Broad Device Compatibility
The company's ENGO 2 smart glasses weigh less than 40 grams. As a result, they offer a lightweight alternative to many other smart eyewear products while maintaining the feel of traditional sports sunglasses.
Besides that, the glasses connect through Bluetooth with Garmin devices, bike computers, smartphones, and Apple Watch. Users can also switch between data screens using a built-in gesture sensor without touching the device.
Battery Designed for Long Training Sessions
ENGO has optimized the hardware for endurance sports. The smart glasses provide up to 12 hours of battery life on a single charge, making them suitable for extended training sessions and competitions.
