Role overview
Summary
The Responsible Investment Analytics Specialist will support HSBC's RI team by enabling effective use of ESG data across investment and operational platforms. This role involves partnering with investment teams, managing ESG data vendors, and delivering robust ESG frameworks, requiring strong analytical and technical skills.
In this role, you will:
Support the RI team’s analytics initiatives and enable effective use of ESG data across the investment and operational platform.
Partner with RI and asset class investment teams on ESG/Sustainable Investment needs, translating investment and client requirements into clear analytical deliverables.
Support selection, governance, and ongoing oversight of ESG data vendors; contribute to the ESG Vendor and Data Strategy.
Work with our investment and technology partners to deliver ESG frameworks and maintain robust documentation and controls.
Work collaboratively across RI Analytics, wider RI teams, investment teams, Data/IT and Operations; build trusted relationships through clear communication and constructive challenge; contribute to improved ways of working.
Manage the relationship with members of the local and global teams.
Ensure accurate reports are delivered in a timely fashion.
Ensure any issues are escalated and resolved proactively.
To be successful you will:
Strong interest or knowledge in ESG and sustainable investing, and how ESG data is applied in asset management and vendor management, and data quality/governance practices.
Strong analytical skills; able to assess, interpret and explain complex information and translate requirements into practical analytics deliverables.
Quantitative (Python/SQL) and modelling skills are a must.
Tech-savvy and AI-aware: comfortable with data tools/platforms (e.g. Github), spotting automation opportunities, and applying AI-enabled approaches responsibly to improve efficiency and insights.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to produce clear materials for investment and operational stakeholders.
Collaborative mindset and confidence working across RI, investment teams, Data/IT and Operations; curiosity and initiative to develop new methodologies, improve processes, and create differentiated IP (not only implement existing approaches).
Capable of prioritizing and multi-tasking in a dynamic environment and ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure, while maintaining close attention to detail.
Excellent organisational and time management skills with a positive and pro-active ‘can do’ attitude.
