Summary

This Tax Director role involves leading complex tax engagements for middle-market businesses, providing strategic tax planning and compliance services, and reviewing federal, state, and local tax returns. The position also focuses on building client relationships, mentoring staff, and staying current on tax legislation.

A nationally recognized public accounting and advisory firm is seeking an experienced Tax Director to join its growing Commercial Tax practice. This leadership role offers the opportunity to advise middle-market businesses across a variety of industries while leading client engagements, mentoring staff, and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex tax engagements for middle-market businesses, including S corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and other pass-through entities.

  • Provide strategic tax planning, consulting, and compliance services to clients across industries such as manufacturing, distribution, real estate, and professional services.

  • Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns and ensure timely, accurate delivery.

  • Advise clients on entity structuring, business transactions, and other tax planning opportunities.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while serving as a trusted advisor.

  • Mentor and develop managers, seniors, and staff while overseeing engagement workflow.

  • Research complex tax matters and stay current on evolving tax legislation and regulations.

  • Collaborate with audit and advisory professionals to provide comprehensive client solutions.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.

  • Active CPA or EA license required.

  • MST, JD, or LLM in Taxation is a plus.

  • 10+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience serving middle-market businesses.

  • Strong technical knowledge of partnership, pass-through, corporate, and multi-state taxation.

  • Experience with CCH Axcess and tax research platforms preferred.

  • Proven leadership, client relationship management, and team development skills.

  • Ability to work in the office at least 3 days per week.
