Role overview

Summary

This role involves coordinating public outreach events, managing online presence including website and social media, and writing newsletters for the Oklahoma Biological Survey. The specialist will also manage a landowner conservation program and conduct site visits to assess properties for their conservation value.

The Oklahoma Biological Survey, a research unit of the University of Oklahoma, is seeking an Outreach Coordinator and Natural Areas Program Specialist. This position is crucial for managing the department's public interactions, both online and in-person, and contributing to the mission of providing biodiversity information and training students and the public.


What you will do:

  • Coordinate outreach events, including the department’s 100-year anniversary celebrations.

  • Maintain our department’s website and social media accounts.

  • Write our department’s quarterly eNewsletter.

  • Manage the Oklahoma Natural Areas Registry, a voluntary landowner conservation program.

  • Make site visits across the state to access properties for their conservation value.

  • Assist with biological surveys.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

  • 24 months of related research experience.

  • Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.
