South Korea-based aerospace company Unastella has secured $24 million in a Series B funding round as it continues developing launch vehicles and rocket propulsion systems for the small-satellite market.
The investment round was led by Altos Ventures. Existing and new investors, including Korea Development Bank, Strong Ventures, Hana Ventures, KDB Capital, Woori Venture Partners, and Samho Green Investment, also participated.
Funding to Support Launch Vehicle Development
Unastella said it will use the new capital to validate its orbital launch architecture and strengthen partnerships across the aerospace sector. In addition, the company plans to accelerate development work for its next launch vehicle, UNA EXPRESS-II.
The funding is expected to support engineering, testing, and preparation activities ahead of future launch programs.
Focus on Small-Satellite Launch Services
Founded by Jae Park, Unastella develops rocket engines powered by kerosene and liquid oxygen. The company combines these propulsion systems with electric motor pump technology to support commercial satellite deployment missions.
Beyond satellite launches, Unastella is also working on technologies aimed at enabling crewed suborbital spaceflight in the long term.
Building on Recent Milestones
The latest funding brings Unastella's total capital raised to $44 million.
In May 2025, the company completed the first independent launch of its UNA EXPRESS-I rocket from South Korea. The milestone marked a significant step in its efforts to build domestic launch capabilities and expand its position in the commercial space sector.
