P2 Science, a Connecticut-based green chemistry company, has raised $23 million in funding to support the expansion of its sustainable ingredients business.

The funding round was led by Sofinnova Partners.

The company said it will use the capital to accelerate commercial growth in the beauty and personal care sector. In addition, P2 Science plans to expand its green chemistry platform into new markets, including aroma technologies, performance polymers, home care, coatings, and crop care.

Founded by Professor Paul Anastas and Dr. Patrick Foley, P2 Science develops renewable specialty ingredients for industries such as personal care, flavor and fragrance, and performance materials.

The company operates from Woodbridge, Connecticut, and focuses on converting sustainable feedstocks into specialty chemical ingredients through green chemistry processes.

Earlier, P2 Science also received $2.8 million in non-dilutive funding from the U.S. Department of Energy’s ARPA-E program. The funding aims to support catalyst innovation using AI-enabled autonomous laboratory systems.
