Voice AI startup Navana.ai has raised Rs 40 crore in a Series A funding round led by entrepreneur and investor Ronnie Screwvala, as the company looks to scale its enterprise voice AI infrastructure across India's highly regulated financial services sector.
The round also saw participation from Antler India, Sharad Sanghi, Sandeep Singhal, Paula Mariwala and other investors. The fresh capital will be used to expand Navana.ai's Voice AI deployments among BFSI enterprises, strengthen its speech models for Indian languages and dialects, and develop its AI Contact Centre and automated evaluation platform.
Scaling Voice AI for Regulated Enterprises
Founded by brothers Raoul Nanavati and Jai Nanavati, Navana.ai builds voice AI solutions for regulated enterprises with a strong focus on data privacy, compliance and on-premise deployment.
The startup says it has already processed more than 100 million voice AI minutes for BFSI companies, including Bajaj Finserv, Protean, Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, Jana Small Finance Bank and Grihum Housing Finance.
Its technology is designed to help financial institutions deploy voice-based customer interactions while addressing the privacy and regulatory requirements associated with sensitive enterprise data.
Building Speech AI for India's Linguistic Diversity
One of Navana.ai's key technology areas is its proprietary speech infrastructure for Indian languages and regional dialects.
The company has developed speech models covering 12 Indian languages and 45 dialects. These models are designed to handle real-world challenges including background noise, overlapping speech, code switching and regional accents.
Navana.ai has also collaborated with IISc Bengaluru, IIT Madras, Microsoft Research and the Gates Foundation as it develops its speech technology.
The company's Bodhi speech model reportedly achieved the highest accuracy in a benchmarking exercise conducted across Indian voice AI platforms using real-world speech samples.
Voice AI as Digital Infrastructure
For Ronnie Screwvala, the opportunity extends beyond customer-service automation.
He said Navana.ai is addressing India's linguistic complexity and that voice AI could become a critical component of the country's digital infrastructure, particularly as data localisation and regulatory compliance become increasingly important for enterprise adoption.
With more than 100 million voice AI minutes processed, coverage across 12 languages and 45 dialects, and growing adoption among BFSI enterprises, Navana.ai is positioning its technology as infrastructure for voice-driven enterprise interactions in India.
The new Rs 40 crore Series A will help the startup deepen its enterprise deployments while continuing to build speech models capable of operating across India's diverse linguistic landscape.
