Infex Therapeutics, a UK-based biotechnology company developing treatments for drug-resistant infections, has raised £4.3 million in funding.

The round was led by Jon Moulton, with participation from the GM&C Life Sciences Fund, managed by Catapult Ventures, along with existing high-net-worth investors.

The company said the funding will support the advancement of its clinical and preclinical anti-infective programs.

Infex Therapeutics Focuses on Drug-Resistant Infections

Led by CEO Peter Jackson and chair Jon Moulton, Infex Therapeutics develops anti-infective therapies designed to address antimicrobial resistance.

The company focuses on acquiring and in-licensing early-stage drug candidates and advancing them toward clinical proof of concept for serious infectious diseases.

According to Infex Therapeutics, the healthcare industry continues to face a shortage of effective treatments for antimicrobial-resistant infections.

Funding to Support Clinical Development Programs

Infex Therapeutics said the latest funding will help prepare its RESP-X candidate for further development following the completion of a Phase IIa clinical trial.

The RESP-X program targets Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections in respiratory patients.

In addition, the company plans to expand development of its MET-X resistance bypass program and continue preclinical studies involving BamA inhibitors.

Strategic Partnership in India

The company has also established a strategic clinical development partnership with Venus Remedies Ltd in India for the MET-X program.

Infex Therapeutics said the collaboration will support clinical development and broader research efforts related to antimicrobial resistance therapies.

Growing Focus on Antimicrobial Resistance

The global healthcare sector has increasingly focused on antimicrobial resistance as drug-resistant infections continue to create challenges for existing treatment methods.

As a result, biotechnology companies developing anti-infective therapies and resistance-focused drug programs have attracted growing research and investor interest.

Infex Therapeutics said it plans to continue advancing its pipeline across respiratory infections and antimicrobial resistance treatment areas.
