1872 Secures $15 Million Seed Funding

Cincinnati-based manufacturing startup 1872 has raised $15 million in Seed funding to accelerate the launch of its AI-native steel fabrication operations.

The investment was made through private funds advised by The O.H.I.O. Fund.

Led by Dan Summers, Co-founder and CEO, 1872 is building an autonomous steel fabrication factory designed to modernize heavy manufacturing through artificial intelligence and advanced automation.

Building an AI-Native Steel Fabrication Factory

1872 integrates proprietary AI software with industrial automation technologies to automate steel fabrication processes that have traditionally relied on manual labor.

The company's manufacturing platform combines AI capable of understanding physical production environments with robotic automation from partners including Path Robotics, an Ohio-based automation company.

According to the company, early automation systems are already operational, with its fully autonomous manufacturing vision expected to be achieved by 2027.

Expanding Manufacturing Operations

The newly raised capital will be used to begin production for customers and further develop the company's autonomous steel fabrication capabilities.

By combining AI and robotics, 1872 aims to address skilled labor shortages while improving manufacturing efficiency in the industrial sector.
