Role overview

Summary

The Publishing Product Director at Crytek acts as the creative custodian for an unannounced game, translating its vision into actionable publishing strategies. This role bridges the game development and publishing teams, ensuring authentic and aspirational player experiences from reveal through post-launch.

Role Overview

The Publishing Product Director serves as the creative custodian for an unannounced project within Crytek’s portfolio. Embedded directly inside the game team, this role bridges game leadership and the publishing organization (Marketing, Communications, Community, Commercial). You will protect the creative vision, translate the game's core player promise into authentic publishing activations, and guide the narrative from project reveal through launch and live service.

Key Responsibilities

- Champion and safeguard the game’s creative vision, tone, and player promise across all publishing executions.

- Serve as the daily operational bridge and primary source of truth between the embedded game team and the publishing organization.

- Brief, review, and approve major marketing, communications, and community assets to guarantee creative authenticity.

- Partner with the Chief Publishing Officer and Brand & Marketing Director to design unified go-to-market and commercial roadmaps.

- Guide franchise narrative, positioning, and creative beats across reveals, milestone beats, and ongoing post-launch content.

- Shield the game development team from operational distraction while translating publishing requirements into actionable development tasks.

- Balance publishing priorities with game realities, aligning publishing with the creative vision and developers with market expectations.

Qualifications and Requirements

- 8+ years of experience operating at the intersection of game development and publishing/marketing, with extensive time embedded within development teams.

- Proven track record of translating complex creative visions into commercial campaigns without compromising product integrity.

- Deep familiarity with contemporary gaming business models (premium, live-service, DLC, F2P) and long-term roadmap planning.

- Experience launching or operating at least one major title or live-service game from within a development team.

- Exceptional influence-without-authority skills across both technical/creative leads and executive business stakeholders.

- Strong grounding in player behavior, audience segmentation, and community engagement trends.

- Demonstrated ability to balance high-level creative critique with pragmatic commercial trade-offs.

What We Offer

- Comprehensive relocation assistance, including flight coverage, visa/work permit support, settling-in aid, and a fully furnished company apartment for the first 3 months in Frankfurt.

- Professional development framework and clear career progression pathways.

- Hybrid working setup (3 days in-office, up to 2 days remote weekly) at a modern office located in central Frankfurt.

- Free local public transit pass across Frankfurt (bus, tram, metro).

- Premium Fitness First gym membership.

- 24 vacation days to start (scaling up to 28 days based on tenure) plus roughly 10 public holidays per year.

- Company-sponsored German language lessons for employees and their families.

- Team social events, seasonal parties, and annual attendance at Gamescom in Cologne.
